I wouldn't consider it a hard-science like physics or chemistry, but it can definitely be considered a softer science, similar to biology. However, psychology is also an underdeveloped science at this point in the game. It hasn't been around for as long as physics and chemistry have, but I am curious to hear what psychologists will discover within the next few decades.

It is the impurest science due to the fact that there are no laws (ex. F=ma) to govern anything related. However, it is technically a science because all of its findings, no matter how vague, are found using the scientific method

It's Japanese katakana for "tsu". In its smaller form ドッテ, like so, it serves to double a vowel sound. Also, may serve as a glottal stop in the language.

Now stop making me become /jp/

Aaaaand, I balls’ed that up because I wasn't paying attention.

but seriously clin. psych. and psychiatry have massive shortcomings and are less than what the words 'objective scientific medicine' suggest. Things truly are at the level of 'crisis in the field', here are some things from the psychiatry side (open access):

Since you asked,

ツ = tsu
ッ = [double the consonant after this]
シ = shi
ソ = so
ン = n (only at the end of words)
ノ = no

Each of these are part of the "katakana" syllabry, which is usually used for foreign loanwords, onomatopoeia (see manga), and some Japanese words.

Its the brain that translates all perceptions into interpretations and commits those to memory in the form of consciousness. From these interpretations we process reality. The human mentality is an intuitively subjective medium, illogical in its foundry and irrational in its expressions. For it is an objective statement of fact to profess that the entirety of human perception is foundationally illogical in construction. As a purely logical mind can only express a linear logicality. Meaning it would either be a purely logical or purely illogical process of cognition. However a purely illogical mentality will be capable of expressing equal parts rational logicality and illogical reasoning. As this is counter intuitive to what is defined within the parameters of rationality and logic. Being that self definition is the only true governing force behind intrinsic classification.

Human beings can express rationality, but thats only because they are irrational beings.

Therefore, the only true science, by definition, is the study of this process. Which is psychology.

better question: what is a science?
As we see some say, it needs to have laws, but why?
Isn't a science a science regardless of content? What, then, is a science without laws?
It seems to me that a science simply follows the prescribed scientific process. But who is to say what that process will forever be? Is the definition of science subject to those who define it?
Sorry for not helping.

Psychology can't be compared to biology. I'm sorry.

I started out majoring in psych because I really had no idea what I wanted to do. I eventually decided I wanted a science degree so I switched to biology.

Biology requires a basic understanding of physics and chemistry, especially if your focus is on molecular biology, genetics, biochem, etc, which mine was.

Psychology does not.

Psychfag here and i would consider certain aspects of psychology to be science while others aren't

cognitive psychology
clinical psychology (to some degree)
neuropsychology

these branches of psych are all focused on proving facts in ways other than simple observation of subjects because we can confirm our hypotheses through real undeniable proof(for example we know schizofrenics have different neural patterns through brain scans)

other branches like social psychology and personality psychology have very little real world basis or ways to prove their hypotheses, its simply observe and if the behaviour lines up, it must be fact.

so really it has potential to be a science but i doubt it will ever be a hard science as it does not require as much math as chemistry and physics and in practice and so is in a sense easier, however it is harder to prove ones hypothesis in psychology, so in that aspect it could be considered harder. perhaps once we learn more about the brain and tie psych into it we'll be able to disprove all the bullshit and actually get more stuff done
