Next semester:
Calc II
Phys I (with Calc)
Chem I
BS Electives for GE.

Got a D in Calc II over the summer, and retaking it.

How difficult should I expect this semester to be? Average homework load?

Also ITT, post Spring classes.

>> No.5271782

Hopefully Calc 2 will go easier since you already had it. Just don't get cocky and quit paying attention since you just learned it.

Are your physics/chem classes for the major? Because the ones "for everyone," as far as I've been able to see, have way lighter courseloads. So, that's a factor.

Next Semester:

analysis 2, algebra 2, pde's, problem solving thing, and a bullshit online gen ed to meet scholarship unit requirements.

Yeah, this is what I'm hoping. I'm going to try actually doing the problem sets this time around and acing it.

>>5271790
They are the major-specific classes, but they are required for transferring (CC-fag here). Are you majoring in something math-related? Some of those all look like upper div courses I'll be taking in a few years.

I'm a math major. If either of those major-specific classes is a weed-out class, be ready to do way more work than should really be necessary. Other than that, it sounds fine.

Not nearly as fun as the semester when you get onto upper div math courses though!

yep. I think calc III/la/de in one semester is okay. A lot of the material is shared through the courses, which you'll start to see a lot of in math. In DE you'll see many of the theorems are proved by using things from LA. In calc III, you're concerned a lot with vectors, which again you'll learn all about in LA.

Oh yeah, that's right, it's empty because I don't need to study anymore. Enjoy your pleb life while I make 300k starting. Guess my major if you can; It's so advanced I don't think you've even heard of it.

P.S. this isn't recess. If you throw shit around, you'll get shit thrown back at you. By shit, I mean stuff that isn't discussion regarding science or math. Gossiping over course schedule is not science, even if you happen to take baby's first math/physics course. I actually love OChem, that's why I took advanced.
Calc II has been interesting and pretty easy, I hear calc III is easier, my professor said I'd have an easy time with it but diffeq would be hard with science classes, but I think she may just be used to finance majors who don't have to take science classes.

I've actually never taken a physics course but I had never taken calc before college either and I got an easy A in calc I and I'll do it again this semester.

Yeah you'll do fine then. Don't worry about the math classes. Calc II is the toughest intro Calc class because of the integrals and memorizing all those stupid rules you probably won't ever see again, but other than that it's not so bad.

Diff Eq at my school was really really easy, but I have a problem now in Differential Geometry because I don't remember jack shit from that class. Luckily it's mostly simple Diff Eq that's needed, though. Just don't slack off. You can take any classes you want really, as long as you put some effort into it.

Math Major yeah. Differential Geometry has practical application but I can't remember what it is right now. I'd say if you are doing physics and chem Diff Eq is pretty much it for chem, physics you're going to want to basically take a math major's load in addition to your physics classes. Vector and Complex Analysis are important, Vector more than Complex. I don't think Abstract Algebra and Discrete Math are to important unless you're into computer science. Some upper level courses that I can't speak for you on because they change from university to university are Partial Differential Equations (most likely to have), Differential Geometry (possible), there are some Topological fields that apply to Physics, but I don't know much about it.

That's all I can think of right now. Be sure to take all the Calculus you can, basically. Most other branches aren't to important to the physical sciences.

For Physics what ever your school calls Advanced Multivariable Calculus. The course description for mine is as follows:
Topology of n-space; continuity, uniform continuity and uniform convergence; extremal problems; Taylor's theorem for multivariate functions; multiple integrals; transformations and their derivatives; implicit functions.

I'm taking that next semester and I'm sure it has applications to physics in Quantum and electromagnetic fields, as well as other parts of physics I'm ignorant of.

Partial Differential Equations is also important for engineering and physics, probably chemistry as well but I'm not sure.

Vector Analysis is a must. Complex Analysis is not. Also be sure you take Linear Algebra. It should be a pre-req for Vector any way.

Possibly an advanced Linear Algebra course, though that might get a little to pure.

What ever tickles your fancy.
