If the Degenerate Era of the universe is predicted to last 10^40 years, is there any conceivable way that humans can somehow survive to the Dark Era?
Like what heat sources or energy sources could they draw on, where would they live, etc.

I made a thread similar to this the other day. We can only hope to be technologically advanced enough to come up with a solution. Assuming we survive even that long

All we need is a galactic civilization; it's practically impossible to die out once you're spread out far enough.
I imagine some kind of advanced radiation-absorbing hull and stringent recycling. Also possibly parking around brown dwarfs where gravitational tidal forces keep moons fairly warm enough to camp in.

Lawrence Krauss once gave a lecture about the fate of the universe and the implications for humanity, should we survive that long. He goes in to a lot of interesting detail.

I think this is it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Cnj8MIQ0HY

we use timecrystals to store power and keep small pockets matter from decaying.

I was thinking zero-point energy, finding some way to harness the particles coming into and out of existence on a quantum level. Then us camping out waiting for the new universe to happen.

you know how a crystal has a symmetry in space, repeating the same structure over and over? timecrystals are like that in time, their structure forces it to repeat the same structure in time. small imperfection in its structure will allow small amounts of energy to leak out which can be harnessed.

Humanity shall inherit a dark universe and make it our own.

You honestly think we as a species are going to last that long?

I think it highly likely that by this point we will figure out the relationship between dimensions and peace to another universe. Either that or our model for the course of the universe is completely wrong and we are dealing with another issue entirely like the distance between any two atoms being infinite or something weird.

inb4 people correct me by accurately predicting the course of human evolution and innovation for billions of years to come.
