Since you're all elitist pricks I thought I'd be better off ask you guys. Here's my story:

>Doing A Levels (Maths, Physics, Economics)
>Get kind of unlucky and end up with ~5 marks off AAB needed to get into York to do Finance and Mathematics
>Decide to take a year out to redo my exams/work
>Currently doing voluntary work at a finance company and studying
>Considering doing Maths because I'm starting to enjoy it
>Need A*AA-AAA to get anywhere good

Since it'll be another risk applying for maths when it's AAA when I'm probably going to get AAB in January, I'm going to apply for Econ/Maths which is AAB and then ask the unis if they'll accept me for maths if I resit some of my exams.

I got a (very high)B in Maths first time round, any advice?

Pic related.

It's grades out of 100 in the units.
C1-4 are Core Maths units
M1 is Mechanics
S1 is stats.

why couldnt you just label them as calc1, calc2, linear algebra, etc?

"core" means nothing

>> No.5168199

Resit C3/C4, try and get at least 80 UMS in each.

Could resit S1 module, to pick up some UMS as well.

You could end up with an A* in Maths, could definitely enter into some of the top 10-20 uni's, provided you got a good personal statement.

>>5168193

They're called Core, they're a little bit of both (well C4 is the only with proper calc)

>>5168199

Need 90 in each breh.
And 90 in M1 which isn't that bad.

I don't know, I'm just thinking, if I can't straight up ace them first time round, will I not struggle at uni?

How much work did you put in the exams? Some of my mates do Maths at uni, each one of them worked solidly for their grades - maybe the grades you got translate to 'i worked my fair share, but I couldn't be fucked to get the last few marks'

I guess I didn't work hard enough. Even when I came out of the exams I thought (I think I've done the exact minimum needed to get the grades).

I was only around 5 marks of an A in maths and in physics I was about 7 off a B (this includes me getting an E on the Practical somehow, and that cost me 30 marks).
