So if 3D casts a 2D shadow, and 4D casts a 3D shadow, does N-D cast a (N-1)-D shadow?

>> No.5142607

>>5142605
How about you prove it by induction?

>> No.5142610

Also, does 0-D cast a -1-D shadow? Or an ∞-D shadow?

>> No.5142611

>>5142607
I don't know how since I'm not sure the hypothesis is valid in the first place.

>> No.5142624

well , you make shadow by blocking the source of light with your body, and from the floor to your body the same amount of the light source is being blocked, it actually has profundity,we perceive it as 2d but i guess in reality they are 3d

I meant mathematically.

A 3D object would cast a shadow appearing as a 2D flat surface. A 4D object would cast something that appears 3D. So I'm wondering if this goes on.

>>5142631
You're an idiot. No. Shadow isn't 'real' in the sense you mean. Shadow is an absence of something. A 4d object blocking light would block the same light a 3d object does...actually why the fuck are we even arguing about dimensions?

>YFW ghosts are actually 4Ds shadows.

A shadow is a metaphor for something that I don't know any other words for. Jackass.

Its the absence of something along one axis. hence his hypothesis.

>> No.5142667

A flawed hypothesis.

>>5142667
Can you elaborate?

>> No.5142671

You're right. A shadow is a shadow. You should have considered what a shadow is though. It seems really cool to think about what affect magical 'super dimensions' might have on our perceivable world, but the truth is that most of this stuff is just stoner logic.

>> No.5142689

What if we instead assumed 2d creates a 3d shadow?

>> No.5142692

>>5142669
The shadow is merely a result of the properties of light. Which is the heart of your real question. What are the properties of light, and can/does it exist in broader dimensions than we perceive?

>> No.5142694

>>5142692
and it turns out the answer, as it often is, is absolutely maybe.

As I said I'm talking strictly logically/mathematically here. Don't involve physics into it.

By shadow I mean that the projection of a N-D plane will be a (N-1)-D plane. I don't know how to prove this.

hwæt?

Seriously though, what are you smoking?

Oh. Then the answer is no. You may leave now.

Apparently no one here even understands my what I'm asking.

Yes, ex falso quodlibet.

Odd ol physics theory. Something about the 3d being just projections of 2d things. Go google the Universe is a 3d hologram or something and itll pop up.
