>People in the lecture want to evaluate limits by graphing the function
>People want him to take up homework questions
>Everyone is losing their shit about how hard the course is and how the homework is impossible and there's so much of it, that they couldn't finish even half
>I breeze through it in a couple of hours
>mfw I'm not even good at maths

What the fuck? How are these people in the sciences? I'm at a prestigious university for maths to boot. Please tell me it gets harder.

>> No.5091142

I'm an Honors CS major and yes, it does get harder. You'll very quickly realize that 95% of the kids in all your classes are fucking stupid and want want want, they refuse to shut the fuck up and learn the material themselves. Wastes the entire class time going over basic concepts.

>> No.5091141

Freshman calculus is for people who couldn't pass the AP test. These people are usually not motivated at all, and aren't interested in mathematics.
It doesn't get harder. Calc 2 is easy as fuck, Calc 3 is a joke.
Take a real analysis course to see how hard it can get.

For example, in my programming class, year 2, people were asking what printf does. Seriously? We learned this in the first day of class AND last year. I'm in class now and I am getting pissed off at stupid people and their stupid questions.

What OP describes is exactly the reason why /sci/ doesn't take CS serious. Way too many retards who can't even into highschool math are studying it.

I'm a Junior and a CS major and I took Precalculus 2 freshman year because that was the highest you could place into, and I did AP Bio and LELELELEL AP ENGLISH instead of AP Calc.

Anyway, I remember Precalculus 2 being the hardest math course I have ever taken. Calculus I, II and III were all so easy in comparison, not to mention the other MTH classes I've had to take. And I had taken Precalc/Calculus in HS so I have no idea why it was so difficult.

tl;dr Calculus is easymode but Precalculus cabooseclobbered me.

it wont get any harder cuz u're a genius OP

That's like saying pre-calc is the same as multi-variable integral calculus.

Not much of a difference. Both are a joke. I guess you're a freshman.

So what's a relatively hard course in maths?

>> No.5091171

>>5091169
>math course

You already failed. Courses in university are not supposed to be hard, they are supposed to give you a bare minimum of knowledge. If you think there are "hard" courses, you will never do serious research.

>> No.5091173

>>5091163
Especially in computer science, the amount of logic, discrete math and and model theory you are required to master wildly varies. At some unis, it's first year babby tier math, at some unis it exceeds that of a regular mathematician.

>> No.5091174

>>5091171
If all courses are easy, the uni did not stomp as much knowledge in your brain as possible, limiting your potential for research. That being said, all my courses were easy.

Welcome to life OP, it's actually pretty easy, most people are just dumb as fuck.
And nope, it most certainly does not get harder.

>> No.5091195

>>5091171
Really? In my university courses were designed to be gut wrenchingly difficult, some specifically intended to scare people away from their majors.
It's not until grad studies that I had any time to.work on research, but even then I took 3 courses and spent 50 to 60 hrs on them a week, then the rest on research.

I went to school in Canada tho. Is what you describe how schools are in the states or europe?

>have to suppress my rage and the urge to tell them that's nothing

It's crazy what new students complain about, but that's just because they've never worked to any reasonable extent in their life.

>> No.5091212

You guys get irritated when freshman complain? Try having to do gen-eds at a college where the majors that get most of the funding are psychology, "recreation management", and physical education. Less than a few hundred people here actually do any time-consuming course work

>> No.5091221

>>5091214
Actually lawyers have to take a fucktonne of classes thanks to common law in many places.
Honestly I think the freshmen were more surprised about how much time they aren't in class as opposed to are.
I remember going from my 10 hr 6 day/wk job to uni and being blown away. Going right from school would be different, but that's still what like 6 or 8 hrs per day?

I know this feel so hard, OP. The worst part is that my professor panders to the dumbest kids in the class who are VERY outspoken when they don't understand something (which seems to be everything so far).

>mfw the exam was supposed to be this thursday and today they complained and had it changed to next tuesday

Fuck, could have had an easy ass exam out of the way. Not like it matters. It'll still be easy next week. But I can't believe people are struggling. We're doing babby derivatives.

well you see OP that can easily be explained with the OP equation. OP = F^A(G). And there you have it. Divide by quit being such an asshole and you'll understand.
