Can someone take the time to point out all the scientific errors with Breaking Bad?

They call the chemistry teacher of "Walter White" when in reality his name is Bryan Cranston.

>> No.5032436

In the opening credits letters in the names are highlighted in green so as to represent a chemical element symbol. However, Michael Slovis, the Director of Photography, for several of the beginning episodes, they highlight the Ch. There is no chemical element symbol Ch. After a number of episodes they caught it and thereafter they only highlighted the C.

The 'blue meth' was just so it was visually recognisable.

99.1% pure meth would be almost crystal clear/white... I know they used a special process, but it wouldn't have such a dark hue.

An electromagnet, even a powerful electromagnet like the one shown in the Season 5 premiere would not be able to produce a strong enough force to 'yank' a laptop towards it through the air or drag metal shelves and objects towards it across a distance of, say, 6-8 meters. It would definitely erase the data on the laptop hard drive if it was close enough.

Stuff like this is what is generally regarded as an "acceptable suspension of disbelief". Even though they don't all work perfectly in real life, the way in which they're presented, explained, and demonstrated in the context of the story provide enough of a setup that the events are at least believable if not realistic.

It's only when shows or films abandon the 'acceptable' part that it starts becoming ridiculous or insulting.

... I'm looking at you 'The Core'

In the first season when he throws the fulminated mercury, if one crystal made that kind of explosion, it would definetly blow up the whole bag during the explosion (which was lying on the table..)

>> No.5032818

>>5032731
maybe the explosion seen from the outside is actually the explosion of the whole bag, created by the explosion of the cristal.

Hmm, would the blast and the shockwave produced be omnidirectional and uniform or would it be directional, with the bulk of the force going in the direction away from Walt and Tuco?

We see some windows get blasted out but it's unclear whether they're the windows next to Tuco's desk or the one's on the other side of the room.

the core was perfectly acceptable. name ONE thing in it that was exaggerated/ not accurate.

I don't. But generally his posting style is the same. Hard to go by that though, because some things he does intentionally and anyoen trying to imitate him could easily do them as well. For example, he always writes post (like posting) poast (poasting).

The goddamn hydrofluoric acid thin. Not only is it a relatively weak acid, but breathing its fumes (as Jesse did) will definitely kill you. Seriously, it's fucking terrifying. It does a good job at dissolving glass though.

The chemistry is all made up. There isn't even any such thing as "meth-amphetamine". Meth and amphetamine are two different drugs.
