If the prosperity of a civilization and subsequent technical advancements are as a result of being geographically blessed (fertile crescent - feed more people - more spare time to work and study - more technologically advanced society - guns germs steal style)

Would we have Earth 2.0 if we reconstructed all of Earths land to form dual rings around earth, in the same longitude (east-west) as Europe (ignoring the complication of a new age pangea)?

sounds good what could go wrong

Wouldn't that make the world really, really boring?

I'm sure we could place a few islands in the oceans to for holidaying and relaxing and what have you...

I would also to propose that both north and south strips be divided in communication, and both civilizations would be pushed to compete (non destructively) in pursuit of the likes of a space race and other tasks in which extrinsic motivation from the ""better"" side would try to out do each other.

>Implying we won't have lasers to discharge lightning in storms which are likely to become storms and thus preventing tornadoes from forming.

Assuming that's the reason. I'm not a stormfag but just because some belated author wrote an easy to understand book doesn't mean it's true.
