'sup /sci/

Recently I started thinking about conspiracy theories. Or rather, the lack of intelligent conspiracy theories.

After all, most of those stories are poorly thought out, sport some serious plot holes and usually don't make sense in the least kind of way. Yet, people buy books about that shit like an obese teenager buys candy.
Obviously, those who believe it choose to do so. Which means, no amount of proper discussion will convince them that there is noone manipulating their thoughts with a microwave oven. Sooo...

Why not write my own conspiracy? I, as we probably all are, am scientifically educated. Means I could season my writing with some pseudo-science-bullshit they won't ever be able to tell apart. My writing isn't too awful, in fact I'm making a small living on the side from it. But something tells me, specializing in "Retarded Audience" might yield more revenue.

So, on the pro side, if stupid people buy stupid crap, it might as well be MY stupid crap. Contra, no smallest glimpse of (self)respect remaining. So yeah. What do.

As I said, I don't think it's really "ripping them off". Noone actually believes crap like that, do they? It's more of a novelty thing, as far as I understand. One person reads stories about Harry Potter, the next person about how some space jellyfish is ruling over mankind. There CAN'T be people who take that seriously.

oh, really there are!

if you're writting a fiction/fantasy/sci-fi then fair play to you, and best of luck, and if its quality stuff, you deserve to make cash from it (hell, i might even buy it myself)
but if you're writing stuff that is MEANT to be taken seriously by the audience, that's just pseudoscience conspiracy bullshit, then fuck you.

Fuck off, OP. It's that kind of attitude that dilutes any modicum of questionable thinking.
