Making websites is pretty easy, HTML/HTML5/PHP, look up tutorials
The hard part for you will be learning how to setup the payment grid and database throughout your website.
There are simplified and free ways to set this up with most hosts, however. Otherwise, this isn't a /sci/ topic, bring it to /g/ or something.

Is it really that easy (I'm not OP)? I know HTML, a tiny bit of PHP, and I know how some CSS for formatting.

How would I go about making my own forum? I want to make maybe some sort of video game forum and stick on adsense or something for some revenue. How would I go about this? Would it take me forever to code it myself? Should I just use something like PHPBB?

Forums are typically just found in an online package and then setup for the website. There are tons of resources when it comes to certain packages having security defects and things like that. No need to re-invent the wheel.

Right, but for example with PHPBB there is a huge thing at the top usually that says "PHPBB." I just want a really clean site, would you point me in a good direction? I also want my own URL, I don't want one of those forums where it's hosted by someone else and you have little control over the forum other than making it in the first place.

Right, but my goal is to make my first website and somewhere professional where people will want to come. If it just looks like something ANYONE could've thrown together in 10 seconds, why would people want to come?

Yup, just look up some tutorials (literally everywhere). The tough thing php is that to see your results you have to use a test server which is easy, you download wamp which allows you to actually see your coding in action (versus HTML which you can just open up in firefox, IE, etc.)
