>Freshman in college, Chem E
>3.6~ in HS, no AP classes
>third term of the year
>80% chance of failing physics
>Cs in math across the board
>GPA is a 3.44, going to sink into possibly 2.0 range because of these classes and because I don't have easy-A classes and even the liberal arts classes are hard

I've tried hard to study and have put a lot of effort into understanding the material, but when it's a matter of thinking smarter and not working harder, the hours i spend looking at the material seems to just be wasted time. I fail my midterms. I fail the challenge homework. Part of me doesn't want to give up, a part of me doesn't want to disappoint my parents, but a part of me is becoming increasingly accepting of the idea that this is work i am simply not smart enough to do well.

i don't know what to do. can you give me some feedback /sci/?

>tfw you've been struggling and struggling every day for months to justify being more than worthless and now it's being proven to you that you are probably not worth saving

Do the practice problems.
All of them.

That's good advice. Practice problems are they to help you recognize patterns in other problems, i.e., exam problems.

-Practice
-Look into alternative texts
-Every university I know of has a math tutoring center where math students can sometimes explain concepts more intuitively than professors that have had their heads in the clouds of higher math for years

Just give up and take it easy. It doesn't matter. Not trying to sound like a stoner faggot, but if you're gonna stress your ass off over some shit without making real progress, it's best to just let it go. Nobody will judge you, and if they do, fuck 'em.

Oh man, it's almost like not all people are born with similar intelligence levels. Maybe you just have bad gene's OP, go blame your parents for making you stupid then telling you to go to college.

Check out khan academy for math. Go find khan's vids for whatever subject your on, and learn. You aren't supposed to sit in your room banging your head on a book because you can't teach yourself something. Ask more questions, your professors exist for more than just lecturing.

giving up is a big fucking overreaction.
communicate about the stuff you learn.
i have the same problem sometimes.
it doesn't mean you're stupid when you don't get it. sometimes the stuff you need to study is way easier than you think. propably your only problem is that your are not used to the boundaries of studying subjects.

What university do you go to OP?

>Chem E

Impressive. If you go to a somewhat decent university you are probably going through the "weeder" courses. Every good school has them, especially for a major like engineering. If you can get past these classes, the rest of your college career will be cake.

Can't tell you how many times I've seen freshman and sophomore girls crying their eyes out because a "weeder course" raped them in the ass.
