Greetings /sci/,

Simple question, what would you guys think if we were to create our own academy? Not unlike many other services available but what if we were to provide actual certification with course credits etc... I figure there might be enough people here to make it work.

So what do you think /sci/?

Why wud we want to do that?

well there are many students and people who are asking themselves what to do with their lives.
Now go find the professors.

We already have our own academy. I finished my Ph.D. in trolling at 4chanU in 2010.

You wouldn't if you have no interest. It just seems to me that similar services are missing out on certification. Obviously it wouldn't be "/sci/'s academy of 4chan faggotry" more of an independent thing. It might also provide us with an opportunity to test our own abilities and how well we know our subjects.

>tl;dr It might be good for us, who knows?

Well that's what I figure. There must be some Ph.Ds, Master's degree holders that might be interested. Just a thought really.

We already are our own academy. If you want to learn something you can use the guide to find information and free textbooks and online video lectures on it, and if you can't find it there you can make a thread asking and we'll point you in the right direction.

There are some really smart people on here that can answer your questions in record time too, faster than anywhere else on the web. I took abstract algebra last semester and often had to ask for help on here because i didn't know anyone in my class and some people here really helped me understand a lot.

Granted though, a lot of times I had to deal with bullshit about it being a "homework" thread but sometimes I'd get some really good help.

I mean yeah I agree homework threads are a waste if they're over really basic material like high school math, and not because it's simple and we're degrading anyone who's struggling with elementary areas, but because there are so many resources out there on the web and in the world in general where you can find your answer to doing your high school algebra or trig. You don't need to ask /sci/ for that.

but questions on things like abstract algebra, higher math, and physics concepts should be welcomed and answered readily because this is really the only place on the internet I know of where you can get quick answers on these more advanced topics.

Physicsforums and other similar sites will take a few days at least before you get a response.
