Two points:

1. Condensed matter physics is for fucktards. People go into CMx because they are too stupid for the theoretical side of physics, and are too useless for the code monkey shit. They spend days awake inside a room, without sleep, shining a photon beam at a stupid piece of silicon and collecting inaccurate data that nobody will ever fucking give a shit about. They then waste a journal's time by attempting to publish their god-awful result on how some derivative of silicon polymer has a bandgap at 0.0000000000000000001K and this could potentially lead to radical new discoveries in the microprocessor industry if we give every person with a computer 500 kilos of ionized liquid helium.
