You should be able to solve this.

I am, as a matter of fact.

can someone explain, what is going on there?

>> No.4625236

its string theory. the top equation is the action of the string and then you have to prove some gauge invariance. what exactly do you want to know?

Holy shit. I'm studying to become an engineer. Will I need to deal with this shit?

>> No.4625252

>>4625248

No, this is unapplicable theoretic mumbo-jumbo.

>> No.4625255

>>4625248
You won't even need to deal with legit quantum mechanics, much less string theory (which as yet is not even a physical theory since they can't make any predictions).

π/2

no, this is graduate physics.

>>4625252
>this specific problem may be unapplicable theoretic "mumbo-jumbo". but its exactly the same math and everything as the standered moddel, you can say this Lagrangian is "mumbo-jumbo", but you cant realy say that about the whole OP.

can you integrate polynomials and 1/x? good. you are now a engineer! the rest is just fluff.

4rth year chemE here.

I want to know why I didn't get any sexy anime chicks in lab coats to go with my string theory. QQ.

becasue you never took the time to edit your string theory onto a anime pic?

I watched it when it aired, expecting lots of SCIENCE. Instead I got drama and romance stuff. I enjoyed it anyway but I should have seen that coming.

First ChemE here... I've only completed Calc I so far, what should I study this summer that is widely used in the field? NExt semester I'll be taking Chem I, Physics I, Calc II, and Computer Methods.

Haven't you taken any ChemE classes yet? Just study topics you haven't covered in the handbook yet, if not Felder's book is good for introductory topics, also start studying vector calc. and Diff Eq. if you think you'd find it difficult.
