These kids are just going to be socially awkward recluses. Contributing 100x more to society than I am? Of course. Making 2x more money? Doubtful.

Chillax, they all got their money from a contest involving a bunch of other teenagers, and they probably got help from an expert who held their hand for most of the time.

Kinda reminds me of this 13 year old kid who did a TED talk, a fucking TED talk, because of some shitty apps he made for the iPhone, most of them involving whack-a-mole but with the heads of various celebrities. He also formed a shitty website for his "company" and said he wants to be like Steve Jobs. Apparently that's enough to become a TED speaker, which is why I'm not too hot for TED anymore.

These kids, they may be something else among their peers, but take a hard look at what they're doing, you could trump them easily, you just have to be more of a self-starter.

If this makes you upset or something you are doing it wrong. It should really just inspire you to work harder. These kids are not geniuses, they just apply themselves and do shit. Apparently none of you do shit, and then either whine about it or try and shit on people who accomplish things.

Also included were people who made money seem mega-important because (even if it is) fuck you.

>>4552072
Yes. Do things.

>>4552607
Pretty much this. The message is not that any of these kids are geniuses. It's that when you try and accomplish things (really try, not whatever the fuck all the whiners here do), for the most part you will accomplish them. Want to do research but are no where near qualified? Go for it and get in touch with people that can fucking help you out or hold your hand or whatever. That's what these teens did, because they are teens.

Also worth keeping in mind.

I seriously doubt any of them did, and assume that these were special school programs, especially as one relates to cancer, and another specifically to breast cancer.

Bio is not easy. I'm a graduate engineer and just got into microbiology a couple months ago as a major part of my research. I'm working with anaerobic bacteria, and they can be a pain in the ass to work with. Some biology is easier, but a lot of it is very tough and unpredictable.

The vast majority of people go through the normal channels of scientific education and do just fine. Look up these kids from 20 years from now, my bet is they will be doing little different from the average kid going through a normal education. There are plenty of late developers out there. I failed all my secondary school exams, this year I'm putting together an application for studying grad medicine at oxford/cambridge.

These kids are intelligent (for their age), yeah, but you gotta understand they are used by the media/system to promote a certain idea, like "look kids, you can also be famous and get lots of money if you learn more" etc.

It's basically how universities and baby boomers are making sure there will be enough research to take care of their future health.
