Greetings from /pol/, I have a very important question for you /sci/fags.

Recent events have transpired that culminated in an individual claiming to have been able to reach a Type 1 civilization. I only know of the matter from what I've read from Dr. Kaku as of about 30 minutes ago.

Tell me, /sci/sters, is this a feasible claim?
Is it technologically possible within even 20 years?

Can you offer me ANY helpful insight on the matter?

Trolls be trollin, I know, but this could potentially be gravely important, as in civil war in America important.

What say you.

What do you think?

We can't even figure out a better (in terms of cost-efficiency) energy production method than drilling oil and some guy claims we can reach type 1 civilization. How genuine do you think he's being?

>> No.4542256

I wish you'd be more clear in what exactly you're asking.

Is it feasible to contact a type 1 civilization? (Assuming you mean a type I civilization on the kardeshev scale)
Yes. There's a whole slew of potential communication methods.

However, the communication isn't going to be two-way unless it's been happening for a long time. Electromagnetic radiation still obeys the laws of physics, and nothing is going faster than the speed of light. If they're 20 light years away, it's going to take 40 years from the time we ask them a question to the time we get an answer.

Come listen, my friends.

This coming may will be the single most important may in human history, really. We're all in for a show that will end an era. The era of lying kings will come to a close and the end result will be glorious. If everything goes to plan.

Be ready this may. It will be abrupt, it will be sudden. It will dilute the poisoned wells the masses drink from, it will cut the artery of the beast. Be ready to pick a side, them, or us, and be ready to die for it.

"Huxley and Orwell were both right, and they were both wrong. Orwell was correct in envisioning the future path of the government, and Huxley was correct in envisioning the future path of society. The police state and the nanny state, respectively. What they did not envision was those two states working in unison to create a potent poison of pleasure and fear that ultimately destroys the populace. ...Orwell was correct in predicting endless wars, constant surveillance and propaganda, and Huxley was correct in predicting mindless materialism and the pursuit of self interests. They were both correct as stated before. Both prophets foretelling of a grisly future where the government ensures total control of the populace, while the populace ensures they keep themselves in check, allowing the government to thrive, virtually unchangeable.

What they did not predict is the third menace, the corporations. The corporate state, when added to the mix of the nanny state and the police state creates a unique, bleak and oppressive state where the general populace is blinded to the true colors of society! It creates a neo-feudalistic state.

We're all going to die."

It depends on what you want it to be. We offer only the truth and the means, it is you who decides the outcome. But know this, my friends;

This year is the tipping point. This will be the final conflict between our lying rulers who have deceived us for centuries, and the populace of the world. It is your choice and your choice alone to pick who you will die for, or if you will simply bury your head in the sand. Heed my warning when I say to you an era is about to end, and only one party can live to see the new one.

They say the transitioning steps between Type 0 and I are the most difficult steps in a species history. I believe we have reached those steps.

Call it tinfoiley, it's not like we're pulling strings. I'll be blunt and tell you what we're doing.

We're going to broadcast a message using the MM, the poisoned well I was speaking of. Then, on the same day, we spill the black blood of the beast. I am sure you know what that means.

When people are forced to extremes they will react. We will show them the truth by hijacking what has blinded them, then we will give them that extreme.

I will probably die doing this, but I am okay knowing that. That is all I can say.

He is not at all claiming to be from, have contact with, or otherwise have anything to do with a type I civilization on the kardeshev scale.

How the hell did you misconstrue what he said so badly?

He basically only said that shit goes down while we switch from type 0 to type I, but even that doesn't make much sense. It's not like there's magic involved or something. The kardeshev scale just roughly estimates how much energy a civilization puts to use. Type I uses about the same energy as our planet gets from the sun at any one moment.

Type II uses the entire energy of a sun, and type III uses the energy of an entire galaxy.

Going by what you've posted of his words, that's not at all what he's said.

Not once does he go on about a new power source transitioning us from type 0 to type I civilizations. He's just talking typical /x/ related things about how everything is going to change soon.

Technically, we're already in the process of transitioning from type 0 to type I, but that's simply a result of normal technological process and population growth.

Are there ways to speed up the transition to a type I civilization? Yes! We could build more power planets.

But it doesn't MEAN anything. Being a type I civilization wouldn't magic away all the issues we have in the world. It's a rough classification of the development level of a civilization, and by rough, I mean it has nothing to do with socio-economic policies, or war or peace or anything like that.

It just says "You're probably a pretty advanced civilization if you can put this much energy to use, so we're going to arbitrarily label you a type I civilization"

>> No.4542328

>>4542321
calm down, what else do you have to say on the matter.
it's MUCH more complex than that because we are the ones to be facilitating the change.
ALSO, kardashian's scale is purely theoretical, he's never seen a civilization harness a sun

and to add, that extra energy probably won't become a surplus, people population [most likely] balloons every time a surplus is made available, thus devouring the surplus.

>so type I civilization is harnessing the entire PLANET? is this correct?
Not 'harvesting' the planet. This implies using all resources, material, etc. A type I civilization is simply one that would use roughly the energy the earth receives from the sun. Or... to try and explain it another way, the sun is giving off a lot of energy, and a small fraction of this energy hits the earth. If energy production/use is approximately equivalent to the amount of energy hitting the Earth, given off by the sun, then you have a type I civilization.

>type II is harnessing the ENTIRE sun?
The equivalent in energy to the sun's total output. A dyson sphere would be a prime example of what a type II civilization is capable of, as it captures most/all of the energy coming from the star. That doesn't mean you NEED a dyson sphere. You could just as well have a billion earth-equivalent planets in a galaxy-spanning civilization and call that a type II civilization as well. What matters is the total energy production/use.

My apologies, I seem to be explaining these concepts very poorly.
