What's /sci/'s favorite aminoacid and why?

Mine is definitely tyrosine. It is used to make catecholamines, thyroid hormones and melanin, all really cool molecules. It's phosphorylation serves to transduct signals and activate/deactivate enzymes when they're on a protein.

It also has an aromatic ring, which I find amazing.

Here's a list with the basics if you can't decide.

If you feel naughty you can pick something a little more obscure.

Mine is Selenocysteine, because she's so fucking badass that he uses a stop codon to be translated

Lysine.

The 1993 film Jurassic Park, which is based on the 1990 Michael Crichton novel Jurassic Park, features dinosaurs that were genetically altered so that they could not produce lysine.[40] This was known as the "lysine contingency," and was supposed to prevent the cloned dinosaurs from surviving outside the park, forcing them to be dependent on lysine supplements provided by the park's veterinary staff. Most vertebrates cannot produce lysine by default (it is an essential amino acid).

so you have herpes, amirite?

Yeah. I was gonna put "because I have herpes," but Jurassic Park > my herpes

Because when you are a fucking T-rex and you eat a cow you don't assimilate its aminoacids, right?

My is alanine. Cos she is simple and small, without any rings and other overrated shit.

I'm a tryptophan man. It's an amazing molecule, and it's pathways to tryptamine > dimethyltyptamine are interesting due to their 'straight forwardedness'.

Gamma Amino Butyric Acid

So overrated...

>>4425927

No, i'n not looking for nowhere. If you don't have a way to sintethise an aminoacid, and you're a metazoan, you can always fucking eat some food with that aminoacid.

Actually, that would be the only way to get lysine, since there is no animal that can syntetize it. It is an essential amino acid.

That was a bad one from the writers of Jurassic Park.
