Can somebody please explain to me why I3 is going in the direction the arrow shows? No matter what way I look at it it doesn't make sense

>> No.4359629

I3 is negative.

Shouldn't you do your own homework and learn to figure it out yourself?

I'll give you a hint: The answer is just like staring yourself in the eye in a mirror.

>> No.4359632

It could be negative. It doesn't matter till you solve it with numbers. The assumed direction does not have to be the right direction. Read your textbook and stay awake in class.
Also last I checked this is /sci/ not /homework/ so don't make threads like these asshole.

...so one of the batteries has both negative and positive current flow? that doesn't make sense

>> No.4359653

it's something you set arbitrarily.

if you set it wrong it will come out as negative and you will still be able to find out the right answer

i understand that you can set it arbitrarily, that I1 and I2 could go either clockwise or counterclockwise and that it doesn't matter until the final calculations. But I can't account for I3
