tell me /sci/, why does cars torque should matter to anyone? Isn't the power the most important parameter? As I understand torque is dependent on power, and you also can change the torque via gerabox? Where am I wrong or not?

okay, no luck in /o/... They seem to be only concerned with the looks of the car.. So, maybe someone here knows?

plobs define: tork

I'll give you an answer by the time I write it

Oh look whose shitposting again.

because fundamental principle of dynamics:
the FPD is an equality between two torsors, giving you 6 equalities between scalars.

When you want to know how you have to make your engine work, you have to find as many equations of motion as the number of unknowns you have.

What you're saying is "y u no only use the conservation of energy?"

the answer is that the conservation of energy only gives you one equation, and you usually still have to find more of those. So the torsorial equality is much more useful for what you usually need to know the torque for.

If you want, power is only a part of what you actually need, and it is insufficiant.

I hope I answered your question!

I did say what needed to be said.
a fundamental principle of dynamics is just an equality of the quantity of acceleration with the forces, along with an equality of the momentum with the momentum of the external action on the system.

The latter includes the torque. So you need the torque.

Is it easier to understand for you?

>why does cars torque should matter to anyone? Isn't the power the most important parameter?

torque=Force times Moment Arm
>Force
>power
>power is force/time
power, as in "horsepower, Son", is a measure of torque applied to spin the crankshaft (and how rapidly it can do it)

a 13-horsepower steam engine can have 5000 ft-lbs of torque. no lack of "power", just slow about applying it
a 200-horsepower snowmobile would be on the opposite end of the spectrum, making about 100 ft-lbs, but spinning up to 12k rpm really fast

gotit?

That's what I said, the torque doesn't give useful info... Imagine a car with 10kw engine and one with 100 kw engine. Which one will be on a top of a mountain in a shorter time? Easy.

no. all you've said is you find kw more useful in your little world and that's quite good enough for you. i think that's awesome. have a great day!
