4336134 No.4336134 [Reply] [Original]

Last days I have a weird feeling about my life and a life of all people on the Earth. I have been thinking so much and I still couldn't come to some poinful decision so here I'm asking clever people on /sci/.

My questions is what is the real point of living and why nobody cares about what is the real point?
I'm not talking about some theological bullsh*t and no I'm not 15 yo EMO who want to kill himself. I just want to know whats the real point of living and being an why nobody really cares about it.
I know, some people just say, the point of living is to study, make money, make family and reproduce more and more descendants. But WHY if we know for sure this (the human race and universe) must end?
If I ask someone they all have alomst same answers. "I'd like to have your worries/troubles." "Go do something not so pointless." "You better be studying than thinking about this." etc etc. still same crap...

So /sci/ tell me your opinions.

My own point of living is to find the real point of living, I'm 19 years old.
Thanks.

(excuse my bad english)

>point of living
Why do people even bother asking this? It's like asking "what's the point of that mountain?". There is no point, it's there because it is. There isn't a "point" to life.

Life is a mathematical improbability. The mere fact atoms arranged themselves into molecules that assembled, self-assembled, self-replicated, etc. etc. is a NATURAL miracle.

To me, I think people get too hung up on trying to find a purpose in life. Is the mere fact that you have this huge opportunity to exist in a self-aware manner not enough? To be composed of unaware atoms into a self-aware organism is mind boggling. To know that you are made of atoms... to observe these atoms... ahhh!

I don't think there's a consensus "point" to life. *I* don't think there's a point in life. All I really want is to enjoy and live my few years to the fullest extent I can. I am nothing but atoms, and have been that for ~ 13 billion years. For this VERY brief moment in history I am capable of living, breathing, existing, THINKING. It's a gift of the universe. I don't take it for granted.

>> No.4336180

The sad thing is there is no point to life, we come and we go and in the end it doesn't make any difference. From the outside we're just clumps of molecules on a tiny rock, lost in the immensity of the universe, and sooner or later this rock will have disappeared along with every trace of our previous existence. So there is no point, whether we are conscious of it or not.

I struggled with that question and this problem since I was about 18 or so. I just turned 21 and honestly I think I found my answer.

We are as >>4336156 has described. Now considering we have no ability to change our current situation, or delve deeper into the origination of our particles, see: Big Bang, we simply have to do what our bodies want us to do.

Learning and striving to better ourselves, and compete with each other is fun and all. Can produce awesome results, see: getting laid, and can have some negative ones as well.

My goal at this point is to build my body up into a very powerful, efficient machine, and then find a woman who has done the same. I then want to have quite a few children and give them the opportunity to learn and acheive the level of understanding I have.

We are all life. It's incredible for us to be even able to understand what we are saying, to communicate, to simply BE here. You honestly have to find your "point" in life from within yourself. It's different for every single one of us.

Just because we are destined to die, it does not mean that we should waste the time we do have. Everyone was given an incredible gift, and it's up to us to use it wisely.

I guess it has something to do with other levels of organization of the matter and existance.

An atom unite with others simply to satisfy its energy requeriments for electrical stability, forming molecules, that arange themselves and react in the same way, eventually forming cells. Cells are somewhat alive organisms that have their own individual metabolism and are a kind of "life", but when you agroup many of two or three kinds of them you form a full and unique, pluricellular individual that, at some point, gain awareness of its own life.

Perhaps by simply beeing alive we make part of a greather organism in an upper level of complexity that we coukld never hope to understand. It would be like trynig to make a cell understand that it makes part of the body of a dog or something.

I'm not talking about god itself or some kind of religious bullshit... It's just following a pattern that repeats itself over and over, each time with a greater level of complexity.

In other words, we may be a part of something totally away from our imagination that we could hardly hope to understand, but its there and must be huge.

Just speculating, thou...

But trying to undestand it the same way undestand things on or bellow OUR level of complexity (witch is the level just beyond non-sapient pluricellular life forms) would be nearly impossible.

A cell makes and individual even though its not and will never be aware of it.
In our case, what could it be that we constitute? Some kind of god??? Again: maybe... but trying to see that "god" like something we know and understand (like an old bearded man or other shit like that) is complete and utter bullshit.

If you are so weak-minded that you're asking others to make a purpose for your life then yeah. You are asking others what they have individually decided the purpose of their life is. It's the same as asking for a religion.

The problem with the positing of "what is the meaning of life?" is that it presupposes a platonic meaning that already exists when as beasts, our meanings (and really when we say meaning we are talking about a specific emotional state that we value as one, if not, the highest in our memory of experiences) are decided by our appetites, lusts, and drives.

The species of systemizers of the world gain their greatest meaning from a megalomania which seeks to model as much of the world as possible within their historical instance, in much the same way that the species of kinesthetic gifteds gain their greatest joy from the exertion of bodily energy, a mastery of the body to a dance-like state. Each species of ape gains their joy from the a flux of desires and strengths.

This is why a certain crass hedonism, of food, sex, comfort, etc, fails to satisfy and intensify. Because the satisifaction of such drives tends to lull the ape into sleep and boredom whereas the conquering of a hard goal, the exertion of a muscle gives a boundless pleasure to the thinking ape that has a long memory and a complicated system of symbolic evaluation.
