Were trying to fix our goddamn democracy, but there are a lot of little factors man. We have a complicated government, much more so then many many other countries on earth. We have complicated people, and at the moment have an extremely divided people. Its hard to make progress with the close minded in the mix.

The reason why america is the way it is, is because we work on a more 'darwinian' type of society. We essentially have only an elite few keeping things smooth and we let the majority of society be retarded and wallow in their inferiority.

This is an "effective" strategy for being a national superpower, but it's obviously not effective for the prosperity of the individual citizens.

Europe, and indeed the majority of the first world, operates on a more egalitarian model that values every individual citizen as someone who has something of value.

The end result of these two strategies is:
America - majority retards with the best of the best carrying them on their shoulders
Europe - Everyone helping everyone else to become good, but not necessarily great. Perhaps more accurately stated and helping everyone be not bad.

Personally, I don't care for the sort of "darwinian model", but it's not an easy battle to contest its results.
