Any /sci/borgs dream of living / working at an Antarctic science base for a few months?

>> No.4290531

Obviously pic not Antarctica, btw.

Just the fastest cold weather pic I could find.

Scott Amundsen South Pole Station? Oh my, yes.

Although the old geodesic dome was awesome and I was sad to see them tear it down.

The interior of the old dome. It kept a higher interior temp and shielded against wind chill, making it possible to walk comfortably between buildings in normal clothing.

Not when you've been cooped up in the South Pole station for six months they're not. After month 3 your perception starts to shift and you go after some strange tail whether you want to or not. It's like going jailhouse gay but for ugly women.

>> No.4290594

I'd love it immensely, all of it.
I miss cold weather, and I want to try it.

Which agencies will hire?

I would LOVE to. Sadly, so would thousands of other unqualified fags, so my chances are slim to none. Unless you have a relevant degree, your best bet seems to getting your pilots licence and working for one of the small airlines who ferry scientists around. Also pay absolutely SUCKS, because there are so many people wanting to do the jobs.

>> No.4290714 [DELETED]

I find that happening these days impossible, now when all of these bases have internet.

>> No.4290718

>>4290527
nope
but just a week might be cool

i want to see an aurora and a huge blizzard

but for me to go there even for a week the base has to have like a bazillion backup systems
freezing to death is a very painful way to die...

Actually freezing to death is one of the most peaceful ways to die.
