Assuming that we have the technology and it can be built...

Would it be a good idea to build a large tube that shoots all of our waste into space, where it would just become "space junk" ... if you think this is just retarded explain why.

pic unrelated.

>> No.4225771

maybe certain types of nuclear junk.
apart from that nearly everything can be recycled so it's retarded to just blow it into space.

Maybe eliminate landfills?

That's the plot of Planetes.

Its a horrible idea for many reasons. Waste of propelled energy, the waste could be recycled into something valuable.
Danger to satellites.

Landfills are not a problem.

Nigga you dun goofed

Personally I think the reason is no one is bold enough to try.

>> No.4226255

Because it would cause even more space junk. We already have enough issues with space junk orbiting our planet, and it grows ever year. It is a horrible idea to make even more.

>> No.4226260

Look at Jupiter. That shit absorbs THOUSANDS of Asteroids that are coming straight for Earth all the time. Why not just send all of our trash there too? I mean, when asteroids that are ~10 miles wide are not even making a remote dent in its atmosphere, why not send all of our trash there? Even Nuclear Waste.

>> No.4226262

the reason is because you'd be throwing away perfectly useful quarks and electrons, and wasting energy to do it

>> No.4226265

The only thing it's really viable for is depleted uranium and spent fuel rods and the like. It's a horrible idea to just throw all our refuse into another planet.
