But the idea of "companionship" is mostly a cultural and social creation that piggy-backs on that urge.

Take away the inherent sexual desire and the companionship thing fades away. By companionship I assume you mean some romantic relation with the opposite sex. This is absurd.

Without a sexual desire you would want to have female romantic companions about as much as a heterosexual wants to have romantic male companions...its not gonna happen without the sexual basis to inform it

Not OP but I have a somewhat similar question. My mind works best when I've got nothing bothering me, meaning my sexual urges are satisfied (along with all other physical needs).

If you're asking about supressing sexual urges, then I'm afraid that's impossible. It's been very well documented, mostly rom unethical works done on sexual minorities, that there's no way to change or supress a person's sexual identity, orientation or urges. Since asexuality can be considered an orientation, I don't think it'd be possible to become asexual any more than a gay person can be turned straight, or a trans person cis. Even chemical castration and repeated torture won't inhibe a rapist from raping, as they derive pleasure from the very experience of overpowering someone. All this gender and sex stuff is at the core of our psyches, it seems.

There are some medications that lower libido, but only as a side effect and accompanied by other side effects (and intended purposes) that wouldn't make it worth it.

I reccomend accepting yourself, OP.
