Hey /sci/ientists, I redesigned an imageboard for my university and am looking for critique or feedback on the design/usability/anything other. We have a very nerdy/science/etc. userbase and you all might be interested anyway. I'm a junior Biology major myself.

Homepage: http://www.cornellhub.com/
Board: http://www.cornellhub.com/board/

You're welcome to lurk around a post with Cornellians as much as you want, a similarly brainy audience. No captcha either.

>>4153032

we're also quite popular. it's winter break right now and 6am so a bit slower than usual but we have a very active userbase. who would've thought that an imageboard could thrive in the ivy league?

>> No.4153037

Not bad at first glance. how much time did you spend on this?

>> No.4153044

It looks like you just added some fanciness to Futaba, but it looks good. I'd post there if I went to Cornell.

some pages have been deleted. i'm guessing you're using the search feature. there's a problem with that. also we changed from threads being at /res to /thread so that's a problem and google still has it cached

4chan's greentext is actually really fucking ugly. we liked grey better, and oblique

I didn't actually interact with the board at all, so I'm probably not seeing any modifications. It looks pretty comfortable though, so good job.

Also, there's a Chrome add-on that auto-updates 4chan threads, if you wanted to take a look at that.

I guess it's a matter of preference. Our users seem to like grey. It also distances us a bit from 4chan.. as most of our userbase wouldn't like it here. Self reported poll showed 55% of users are women, and most are just average computer users.

Image enlargement is turned off on purpose.

>>4154970
That's because we switched from /res as a location to threads to /thread
If you change the /res to /thread it works just fine.

>> No.4155043

>>4154983
What do you mean by 'turned off' ? When I clicked an image it enlarged in the current window. I like that, wasn't being sarcastic or anything.

Also, makes sense. Thread worked.

Just a few more suggestions, when clicking post numbers is it maybe possible to sort of highlight the selected post so it is more obvious which post it is.
And maybe some info about the image posted, like filenames and such.

>> No.4155046

>>4155043
Correction, filename thing goes only for the OP's post.

>> No.4155051

I feel kind of stupid.

You're right, only OP's post doesn't highlight. Right now I'm adding jQuery inline post quote hovering like 4chan plus or 4chan x.

Fuck off normalshit.

>> No.4155130

>>4155119

It's an Ivy League imageboard. It is MADE for "normalshits." That's what our user base it. It's supposed to not look like 4chan, because our users think 4chan is weird. Our userbase is also 55% female. You can't explain that?

>> No.4155165

>>4155130

>> No.4155258

It's weird seeing an imageboard being used by non *chan persons. I'm enjoying the contrast between normal conversation and our memes, think I saw a constanza in a biology thread.
It'd be interesting to see if memes would develop, and as quickly, independently of the main internet meme machine amongst less savvy internet users, you already have the poppycock thing for example.

>> No.4155280

>>4155258

Cornell Hub does have memes.

ILR = industrial and labor relations. Widely known as the easiest college at Cornell to get into and less repected. If you think someone is dumb, you say they're from ILR.
