What can /sci/ teach me in that time?

When in doubt, write the balanced equation. It should net you something. Go from there, 99% of general chemistry boils down to equilibrium

i forgot my chem 1 epeen wanking picture... anyway,

just remember chemistry is like baby physics. none of it is challenging; everyone around you is just stupid. if you reworked all of your previous exams you should be golden and be sure you're at least somewhat competent with new material (if you had any on the final).

just curious, what chemistry textbook did you use?

lots of things man. i never paid attention in high school chemistry so everything was pretty much new. one of the most interesting things of the semester was probably intermolecular forces (and how that applies to real life, ie plastics). i guess i never really thought about it before.

the reason i asked about a textbook is because in my crap ass textbook, there were some sections called "chemistry in your day" and i loved them all. one that remains with me is about how soap works to remove grease/oil from your hands. oil is a nonpolar molecule and water is polar, therefore water cannot remove a lot of oil from your hands. soap is a nonpolar molecule, that's why it can remove it. thinking about these applications of certain concepts to our daily lives (like how chlorine in a pool works, or rust, or laundry detergent, etc) is really awesome.

oh and another thing that was awesome about the semester was atomic spectroscopy. you can seriously create roygbiv with a lighter and a few elements and that is absolutely mindblowing.

given the following sturcture (see pic, excuse the stupid ass pen tool thing; ms paint is dog shit)

a) how many sigma bonds are present?
b) how many pi bonds are present?
c) determine the type of hybridization and molecular shape at the following indicated locations.

it's about the equivalent to being hand-drawn. the characteristics of the structure are legible and comprehensible, therefore you are successfully dodging the question.

however, me being the curious guy i am, i want to see if you can even do a simple hybridization question.

given the following sturcture (see pic)

a) how many sigma bonds are present?
b) how many pi bonds are present?
c) determine the type of hybridization and molecular shape at the following indicated locations.

3 Hydrogens are bonded to the Carbon (3 bonds) and there are 2 Hydrogens bonded to the Nitrogen (2 bonds) The methyl is bonded to the amino structure (1 bond) so you have a total of 6 bonds.
A covalant bond is a bond between any two molecules that share a bond also share electrons. An ionic bond is a bond between a metal and a non-metal. There are no ionic bonds because there are no metals present. So all the bonds are covalent.
