Imagine you can't get a college home.
Can't afford a flat out on the private market.
You don't have anywhere to live and do your studies.

What would you do?
What could be a temporary solution?

Find...
someone looking for a room mate,
an abandoned building
a nearby camp ground
a quiet corner of the school library...

get creative

What would you say to a little hut paid by the goverment? Stay there until you found something real.

Sleep in the stairwell of a building on campus. Wake up very early in the morning without fail, before anyone arrives.

Take the opportunity to travel, as I now have no ties.

Either steal a bike and ride in a direction or just walk/hitch-hike somewhere.

I slept in a student lounge for a month at one point. The only place I could afford to live was a two hour commute from campus; it just wasn't an option when I had massive amounts of lab work to do.

After the first couple of days I realized that one of the couches was a hid-a-bed, and the chem department had showers and washing machines I could use. Shit was so cash.

It's kinda in a gray area. If the school really wanted to kick you out of there they could though. Probably some bullshit about the library being for studying and not living and that living there breaks some city ordinance.

In one of the OWS protests you're not allowed to sleep, but you can stay 24/7 as long as you're awake.

Learn to be nocturnal. You can sleep on a picnic table or in a car just about anywhere and no one suspects. Go to places like bars and such at night.

sleep in a library, make sure your shit's safe so no one goes poking through your stuff as you sleep

you just look like an overworked student

I have 24 hour access to 3 buildings on campus, 2 of which are hardly used, have student lounges. Of the 2, one is supposed to be able to be used after-hours by grad students only (pulled some strings) so it'd be the likely candidate. Keep my clothing in a locker in one of the buildings, do laundry in a laundromat off campus and shower in the gym.

COuld also sneak into the physics building which is easy as hell to get lost in, never be found.
