I have a question for the noble minds of /sci/.

What color does the human eye recognize first amid others? Does the average person pick up on red before green, for example, or does it vary from person to person?

Today that would be kind of difficult to discern. In nature, however, colors like blue and orange would probably have grabbed early man's attention, as those colors are rare and vibrant in nature.

I believe the human eye is more sensitive to green than any other color.

yellowish green

While eyes are more sensitive to those colors, I do not think they will draw the most attention (something orange would pull more attention in a forested area for example). Then again OP asked which color the human eye would "recognize first" so isn't the correct awnswer that all colors would be "recognized" at the same time?

In this case does sensitivity mean which color gets perceived first or which color is most vibrant and "loud" to the eyes?

Contrast is more important. Of course, when everything around you is green, like in a forest as this guy>>4096701 said.

Also if someone has favorite color, s/he will often search for it and so will perceive it first and disregard the colors that are not as important to him/her
