Anyone ever learn something formally, and then realized they pondered the exact same concept when they were little, thinking it was new?

When I was in middle school I once casually thought of an idea I called an "investment-loan" that is both debt and equity (though I didn't know those terms, i just thought of it as (if you aren't up to snuff, you owe something, and if you succeed, you give a piece of the company). years later I discovered that is actually what preferred stock usually is, more or less.

When I was taking Algebra 1 I asked the teacher a question but didn't articulate it very well, and found out later I was thinking of the concept of limits.

theres others but I can't remember them right now. I just think its funny hamfistedly putting the pieces of real things together as a little kid

All the time.

I independently came up with most of the ideas presented by enlightenment philosophers when i was in 4th grade. I spent the entire year grounded basically, and would just sit on my bed and think.

you're a faggot and filtered. No tripfag wankery allowed.

Man OP you're so smart and ahead of your peers. You must have a tremendous IQ.

There has to be a word for threads like these, where people claim to have a problem or claim to simply be looking for others with similar issues, but the actual purpose of the thread is to brag about something they are proud of and/or validate their insecurities.

>don't have a name or trip to attach claims or for people to assign praise to
>guy with name that brags about his IQ in other threads says I just want validation
this is what namefags ACTUALLY BELIEVE

>> No.4084346

This is such a difficult concept for me to put into words. It's been bothering me for a few days. People do it real life too, they'll disguise what is essentially bragging behind some humble story, for example. What's this called? There has to be a term for it, it's so common.

If you're bothered by my response, can't you also feel validated by other responses, regardless of whether you post anonymously or not?

being bothered is by virtue of tripfags shitting all over a thread so everyone can assign "cool" qualities to your gay constructed internet persona. this happens all the time and has nothing to do with you either praising or insulting anything about me personally.

There's no real reason for him to lie, he's fucking Anonymous.

And if he IS lying or trying to show off, then he's a god damn moron.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not accusing him of lying.

But what purpose does this thread serve? Do you think he really cares to hear about other people doing similar things? I seriously doubt it.

Just like IQ threads. OP never actually cares about the other people's IQs, he's just interested in showing his off. It might be anonymous, but posts are identifiable within the context of a thread, and that's more than enough for people to become emotionally invested in these anonymous conversations.

thread is beyond saving, two different flavors of trip shitting it up
I disown it

This thread reminds me of the time a friend claimed to have discovered fractals by himself independently and that they'd just been postulated at about the same time by a famous professor.

Seriously dude, I love ya but you gotta stop with this bullshit.

i was on the line of thinking that would have led me to derive planck's constant

i was interested in trying to find how long a 'frame' of time would last, without knowing about planck time, as i figured time is decrete because it doesn't make sense if it's not

>> No.4084570

Yes, but mostly philosophical questions.

well did you actually have a number and try some sort of proof?
