Perhaps a more relevant question is "What is not space?" It is only with the presence of some distinct "other" that things can be distinguished. So saying that space is everything is both accurate and inaccurate, as it is likely not everything (pending research on particle physics and continued research of the big bang), however, due to the physical laws that our universe imposes, it is extremely difficult to prove conclusively that there is anything outside our current universe and current timeframe.

The universe does not expand, that is just a 3D projection of a 4D 'rotation', no beginning, no end, always was, always will be. The reason for all this is unknown, but that may change.

The big bang theory is a religious construct invented and funded by the catholic church. You can rent a scientist like every other whore and you get what you pay for. The integrity of scientists is not different from that of Joe/Jane Average.
