My girlfriend of nearly 4 years loves shoes. I like that she likes shoes- if having and wearing a variety of shoes not only entertains her, but lets her feel more confident, I of course support this behaviour. Plus she has a few pairs of heels that make her look super hot.

Not all women love shoes. Those who do likely love them for different reasons.
I don't know if it is a symptom of spending so much time on this board, or if all men or even all humans are prone to such generalizations, but you should really take into consideration the fact that women are not a homogeneous group.

Based on anecdotal evidence, however, I can say that most women do like shoes. There are several possible reasons for this:

1. Improving beauty. Whether for self confidence or attracting other humans, dressing yourself up will improve how you look. Shoes are a part of this.

2. Shoes as a status symbol. In wealthier circles, certain designers are easily recognized. The shoes are then bragged about, you become somehow more valuable, ????, profit.

3. pressure from peers/society, wanting to fit in. Explanation not required.

4. admired as pieces of wearable art.

5. Humans like collecting things. Some people like rocks, others stamps, many women like to collect shoes.
