Hello science and math board. I am bad at math.

What college courses should I take that aren't math heavy, but still can get me a job that pays well?

>> No.3976663

if you want a good job, don't be a pussy... do MATH!!!

>> No.3976661

Law is a heavily declining field right now.
You could just get a certification/associates in computer science and that probably wouldn't require much math.
You'll start low, but industry experience matters a lot more at the moment

I said certification or associate's

Stuff that can land you a network admin job

You can still get a good job without a college degree. Employers value work experience over a degree, which is even more true considering almost the entire employment world as a degree in something. And you can bypass both if you have a large enough social circle, connections, and people on the inside (which gaining such connections are more valuable a thing you can do at college than any actual education).

I have a degree CS and don't know how to divide, I just use a calculator or write a script to do it for me.

I wish I could my friend. It's really not my forte. I've been struggling with it since elementary school. I've gone and got extra help, gotten tutors, but I still tend to hit walls in math I can't break.

I'm not really good at much except maybe selling things or debating. But philosophy, in my opinion, should be a hobby and not a course, so I won't be doing that.

You might as well tell the OP to major in mathematics.

Get a Master's or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. You can get a $100k job. Or become a dentist, pharmacist, or even physician (but that takes people skills).

Very little math in orgo. Which is why so many women occupy organic chemistry fields.

Major in chemistry in undergrad. The highest math you will have to do is Calc 2.

Where the fuck does it only require Calc 2? I thought my university was doing it wrong with only requiring up to Diff Eq.

Lots of people with advanced degrees in mathematics struggle with basic arithmetic. And figuring out an algorithm to divide two numbers is as much a computer science problem as it is a math one.

College degree does not necessarily equal a job.
No college degree does not necessarily equal no job.

Skill that people need equals a job.
No skill that people need equals no job.

Same here. Whats with everyone assuming theres no math in chemistry these days? If they ever took anything beyond organic chemistry they would realize this. Unfortunately /sci is full of a bunch of highschool senior physics major hopefuls and engineering freshman.

Its like saying I took physics 1 and 2 so I don't need to know anything beyond calculus.

I've had to take calc 1,2,3 matrix algebra and diff eq. and calc based stats. Not alot of math but more than calc 2

Hell, I wish I was that far. I failed geometry in junior year and I'm retaking it online right now.

I sucked at math, failed pre calc in highschool. I got good at math by studying the hell out of that shit untill I got it. You can too, it just takes work.

If you are okay with basic arithmetic, just do accounting bro.

Are you fucking shitting me, obviously you are not a chemistry major, and never had to take physical chemistry. Physical chemistry make Calc 2 look like pre-algebra

>> No.3976848

>>3976688
there's a lot of math in materials science

>> No.3976856

well for undergrad chem, you just need enough calc to scrape through pchem. if you're doing it at a graduate level, you need a ton of calc, stats, and other stuff. even for organic. anyone who says organic doesnt require math has only been taking baby tier orgo. at the higher level it kind of fuses with the kinetics and equilibrium stuff from pchem and gets insane

PROTIP: Almost no one on this board knows anything about chemistry. This is a board for first year physics undergrads to make themselves feel superior by bashing on fields they know nothing about while they fail their classes.

Major in what you want
Take pre med classes
Apply to medschool
??????
Don't get into medschool because everyone and their mother wants to be a doctor.

Seriously OP do what you want. If it involves math suck it up and learn it. Math is something you work for.

If you don't have at least some familiarity with differential equations, you will do very poorly in pchem. I'm not saying it's not possible to pass it, but you will do only that. Linear algebra is also advisable.

Why I thought there was a board that was even slightly more intelligent then the rest of it is beyond me.

Oh well.
