What's it take to be an engineer?

I'm currently taking chem and physics in highschool, theyre kinda cool and not that hard, does that mean i am suppose to be engineer?

Like god damn, looking at these college courses, i dont want to do any of this

At my uni, engineering has the highest dropout rate.

if you don't want to study something, don't

if you are generally smart you CAN do science, but if you have no real desire to have a career in it I wouldn't suggest it. Do something you would actually want to do.

it takes genuine interest in technology, math, and physics.

What if I'm really interested in Astronomy? I asked this question here on this board before and got told it was a shit career where you record data, and if i like astronomy, take it up as a hobby instead.

I see no interest in engineering or even physics/astrophysics. Chemistry i like...sort of, but can't even begin to fathom the kind of work it will take to graduate with any sort of respectable chem degree

I have no idea, however you should try and find out what astronomers actually do first, what the likelihood of decent employment is etc.

I mean...what do Chemists do?

I kind of like chemistry

I think it's because of breaking bad though.

I'd definitely suggest taking up astronomy as a hobby - it's an incredibly fulfilling experience. As for professional astronomy, it is a lot of data collecting, but you know what else is a lot of data collecting? EVERY OTHER PHYSICAL SCIENCE OUT THERE.

Go for what you're interested in, and if you're not interested in anything go in undecided and fuck around for a year and figure it out.

It means you should he a chemist or physicist. Why the fuck would you want to become an engineer? Do you have a mental disability?

Hey guys, if I want to design a giant warmachine solely for my usage to slowly conquer the universe, should I be a mechanical engineer?

Go to meetings, work with a bunch of pakis, asians, and neckbeards, make a lot of money, sit at a computer for long hours, every once in a while get to go outside, get bitched at when things break

if your going for a theoretical science, you need a Phd

once you have a Phd in astronomy or physics you can pretty much get any job in finance, 200k starting

its silly, but true.

i shit you not, i got to a top 20 university where there are distinguished EE's who get no fucking respect from the students. they will seriously talk over him during class.

physics, astronomy, math, engineering, statistics, are the basic masters/phds required for Quant finance.

They never want actual Finance majors, lol
