Since when does engineering fall into a category with philosophy, social studies, and art? In order to progress it's necessary to have engineers to put science into use and it's a respectable course of study. OP confirmed as a pure science major with inflated opinion of himself.

Don't quite agree with the way in which some statements are formulated. For instance,

You put engineering, social sciences and philosophy into a single tier. We all know philosophy and several of the social sciences are quite shitty.

>It is immoral to eat meat
I agree with it, but not for the typical animal-loving reason, hence answering the question with "Strongly Agree" implies I'm some kind of hipster college student, or a woman who's on her permanent period.

>All atheists are nihilists
Define atheists and define nihilists. I live a life as an atheist, but technically I'm only agnostic (though extremely in favour of atheism). I can't call myself a nihilist, because I've never read into the stuff, nor do I spend a lot of time pondering about such matters. Assuming I'm still considered an atheist, the statement would be proven false, making the only correct answer 'strongly disagree'.

>Healthcare should not be free at point of use.
Depends on the situation - I can think of cases in which I would find it morally justified to provide free healthcare, and other cases in which it is not. Statement is ambiguous, because it lumps everything together.

>> No.3934769

>>3934760
well every question is incredibly badly worded and simplifies complex issues
it's to the point and in that regard it is entirely unhelpful

>> No.3934779

For all the people complaining about the ambiguity, that's sort of the trademark pitfall of the survey method. More extensive, representative results could be gathered through personal interviews, but obviously that's highly impractical given the nature and population of this board.

I'm still interested in the results of OP's survey.

1. Human beings have free will.
Disagree

The brain, just like every other machine in the universe follows the laws of nature.

Reset
2. You can't know if God exists but you also can't know if he doesn't exist.
Agree

I'm an athiest, but it's true.
There is not enough information to answer this question, because "god" is ambiguious.
It's a troll's question, and falls under the same catagory as "What is the meaning of life?"

4. Humans should be cloned.
Neutral

Why?

5. Abortion is wrong.
Disagree

I could think if a few good reasons where it could be appropriate.

6. Communism could still work.
Strongly Disagree

NOPE

9. Macs just work.
Strongly Disagree
Self-explained
Reset
11. Genes determine everything.
Agree
My choice is probably more neutral on this one. They play a major roll, but only to a certain extent.
12. Human consciousness can only partially be uncovered by neuroscience.
Strongly Agree
Same reason as fist question.
13. Eating meat is immoral.
Strongly Disagree
I like meat.
16. Global warming is solely a natural process and is exaggerated.
Disagree
We do have an affect on global warming, with the emittion of greenhouse gasses and methane, but
i do agree natural cycles dominate.
17. Healthcare should not be free at point of use.
Neutral
I could survive either way.
19. Everyone should have the right to own a gun.
Disagree
There is no need for everyone to have a gun.
20. Earth is the only planet inhabited by life.
Strongly Disagree
About 15 years ago, i would have answered "agree" to this question, because no extra-solar
planets where discovered. Now, over 1000 have been found; giving a REAL value to the first
factor of the drake equation.
21. The Simpsons is still funny.
Agree
It's definitely not as funny as it used to be, but it bring backs memories.
