Sup /sci/

Who's all excited about the AI class starting tomorrow?
I know I am
if you haven't signed up then today's your last chance

>> No.3873768

where do I sign up

>> No.3873785

thanks bro, any other similar or interesting classes I can take online?

I signed up, then forgot about it, now I think I'll have to change my level down to basic because I haven't gone over any of the math related topics. I mean I generally know what they mean but I think I need workable knowledge.
I was also expecting some update from them.

>> No.3873789

>>3873785
stanford is also doing one on databases I believe
other than that I think these are the first of their kind to be released over the web
>>3873783
from the prerequisites I've seen you could easily be caught up if you went to kahn academt and went over the linear algebra playlist today
the probability is taught along the way, iirc

>> No.3873800

fffff it won't let me enroll I keep getting a 503 error!

>> No.3873801

Sup niggaz. I'll make a thread tonight about this shit.

All of you who want to sign up, there are 3 classes:
ai-class.com - AI
db-class.com - Databases
ml-class.com - Machine Learning

Study groups will be on sci, most likely on Wednesdays and Fridays.

For Intro to AI - linear algebra is a huge plus for advanced program although I hear you could be able to pass with little knowledge of it. I recommend you watch all the KhanAcademy videos listed on the site.

Asses are to be kicked here, comrades.

>> No.3873813

I've totally signed up.

I've also put myself up for the advanced course, but I doubt I'll have the time, and I'll probably down at some point, but it's still exciting while I'm part of it.

>> No.3873817

You guys do know the first lesson is already up right?

>> No.3873824

>>3873817
Nope! where is it?

>> No.3873825

>>3873817
>>3873824
Login to ai-class and watch it.

db-class has all of the videos up for quite a while.

>> No.3873832

Anyone actually have the books they recommend for the ai class?

>> No.3873848

>>3873832
The author recommends his book - Artifical Intelligence: A modern approach.

>> No.3873853

>>3873848
yeah, it's also a pain in the ass to find if you want to pirate it
or you could borrow it from your local library like I did

>> No.3873860

>>3873832
>>3873853
I pirated it. It's pretty good, but has over 9000 pages, so I wasn't able to finish it yet.

You just have to know where to look.

Uh nope. Try library.nu, found it within 3 minutes of searching.

>> No.3873887

>>3873882
I didn't say I couldn't find it, I was just saying it was a pain in the ass to find, with the masses of dead links floating about the place

>> No.3873894

Does anyone habe the solutions manual for the third edition? I was only able to find it for the second edition.

>> No.3873899

I hope they fix the quiz system, it's quite buggy when I use it.

>> No.3873910

>>3873899
I can't really even check out the first lesson, took me 15 minutes to sign in.
I'll wait some time but damn, kinda sad. I'll use this time to touch up on my knowledge of probability and matrices.

>> No.3873919

Why sign up when the courses will be dumped to the internet within hours anyway?

>> No.3873927

>>3873910
Many people unfortunately have problem signing in.
I hope it will be fixed by tomorrow.

>>3873919
Quizzes and assignments which eventually earn you some sort of letter of approval signed by Norvig and Thurn + your rank in sea of 150k students. If you wanna learn, no need to sign up. If you like challenge, do eet.

Anyways, I have to google about checkers, no idea what kind of game it is and it is required to do the quiz. It has begun.

>> No.3873935

Honestly, I'm more excited about these Stanford classes than I am my own curriculum at school.

Study groups Wed/Fri? :3

>> No.3874029

I love Khan Academy, but he takes 20 years to explain anything. I wish he went faster sometimes.

>> No.3874203

>>3873927
>>3873935
How can you not know what checkers is?

And study group hmmm... Never did that sort of thing, but maybe it's cool. It depends on the difficulty level of the course.

Siefried, can you tell us what the challenge level is like? Your own opinion would suffice, no need to write a research paper.

>> No.3874214

>>3873927
> some sort of letter of approval signed by Norvig and Thurn
Do you actually think you're gonna get that?

>> No.3874234

>>3874214
It's not an actual letter, just an electronic thing. But yes, everyone on the hard course will get that.

>>3873935
What's with this study group thing here? Are you just gonna make a thread on /sci/ about it? If so, at what time of the day?

>> No.3874282

>>3874214
>do you think it will be worth shit?
FTFY. No.
I am however curious how do I compare to 150k other people worldwide. You should be as well.

>>3874203
>Your own opinion would suffice, no need to write a research paper
Appreciated.

First week is quite easy, I assume it'll start getting quite harder as we progress deeper into math of it.

>>3874234
18:00 GMT every wed/fri. I wanted to start another one tonight, but this will suffice.

>> No.3874319

Site is so fucking buggy, are they fixing this?

>> No.3874331

>>3874282

We should do some sort of forum/something just for this. Mostly because I'm Aussie, and that's like 4AM for me.

>> No.3874407

>>3874331
Don't know if a forum would be a good idea... they have an official forum, an unofficial subreddit, an unofficial facebook page, and many other things... the time isn't perfect for me either, Eurofag here, it's probably midnight around here. But hey, at least we get to read what other people have written I guess, and maybe there'll even be some discussion when you or me are online?

>> No.3874414

>>3874407
Oh, oops, GMT is Euro... I'm confused sometimes.
