Time for a /sci/ rage thread.

My personal rage today:
>be on facebook
>see another steve job status
>see comment under it say steve jobs was the einstein of our generation
>tell him that's retarded because steve jobs made round, white computers and pixar, not develop a theory of any importance whatsoever to the scientific community.
>he says, "well he inspired alot of great artists and made great computers for them to use so he's like einstein to me."
All of my rage.

Implying Steve Jobs didn't invent something useful while most of Einstein's theories are getting proved wrong.

>nobody's Einstein except for Einstein
Yeah, judging by the development of your abstract reasoning, you're about 5 years old. Who let you here?

einstein helped kill thousands of people. steve jobs inspires people. i think i agree with your facebook friend

I see nothing wrong with that. Captains of industry are also genius. Quit being such an uptight ass.

And then you come to 4chan and whine about it?

Aspies gotta asp

jobs invents the computer and the phone. einstein comes up with geusses that are now disproved. jobs is nothing like einstein, he is succesful

I think a better comparison would be Steven Hawking.
I don't see how a guy who made CGI profitable can be compared to Einstein.
I just don't see it.

Jesus, /sci/, when did you get so many trolls?

>Post CERN article about neutrinos on Facebook.
>Girl responds: "so basically it's a black hole....great, the world really is gonna end in 2012. why are we so stupid, pushing sooo many limits. this is by far the most stupid thing we've thought of."

No doubt he was smarter than your average Joe, but what exactly did he contribute?

He didn't build the iPod. His engineers did that. He said "we'll make them look like this and market them like so" and would have had input with the basic features.

OK, so he had some foresight. Great businessmen. For sure. But Einstein wasn't a businessmen. How is the comparison valid? It's a completely different type of intellect and contribution.

Then keep her locked in your 'safety bunker' (basement) for the rest of her life.

Basically any comments made on facebook about the recent CERN/neutrinos experiment. It's amazing how many uneducated laymen feel the need to espouse an opinion on a poor interpretation of a for-the-lowest-common-denominator news article about an interesting - though questionable - result from a complicated particle physics experiment. No bother to check any actual sources or exercise rational scepticism, who cares about that sort of stuff?

I facepalmed at the number of "LOL EINSTEIN WAS WRONG GOD 1 SCIENISTS 0" type comments. And I'm not even exaggerating; one of my facebook friends did put such a score up. :-|
