I think people wouldn't understand it.

Great way to collect money from stupid people and put it towards good things like schools/roads.

b-but spending has been going up with no improvement whatsoever. You're just paying people who didn't major in hard science to get more money to babysit kids.

It would never work because the people it would apply too have been trained into a dogma of fear. The instant they hear about the tax and they'll freak out and light things on fire.

there are math professors who have figured out how to win smaller lotteries consistently, by solely pursuing those lotteries that offer smaller and less attractive prizes.

i don't know how i feel about it, to be honest. the whole notion of raffles and lotteries just doesn't feel right for a 'defensive' person like myself, but people like it and it helps pays for infrastructure, so who am i to complain?

i will say, however, that the fact that some off track betting and sports stadiums have closed down shows that incredible miscalculations can be made even for these simple businesses. pray that those asshats don't ruin the lottery. tax money has to come from somewhere and lottery players buy into the system willingly (although heavy taxation on prize money seems kind of perverse).

Love it.

But understand the psychology of lottery and the economic stupidity is rationalized to some extent. When you buy a lottery ticket, you aren't just buying a 1 in x million chance of winning money; you're buying hope.

>> No.3848334

In the US, a large portion of lower income families pay no taxes. Lotteries are a way to extract money from them.

Make teachers compete for their jobs by removing PUBLIC EDUCATION from the CLUTCHES of BIG BROTHER.

Step 1: Stop Giving Taxes to Public School System.

Step 2: Give taxes to students directly in the form of a voucher.

Step 3: Subsidize school growth, book costs, ect. for a SHORT period of time.

step 4: Watch American Education flourish as Children are now in a land of opportunity and teachers actually have to compete for their positions and aren't reduced to a state of apathetic stagnation.

For most of the school districts in the country, most of the funding comes from LOCAL PROPERTY taxes. And just by coincidence, the schools with the highest tax bases.. are the best.
