Not really, I've heard them talk, they like to take simple statements and facts and drag them out to make them sound deep and smart. Most of the great philosophers studied social sciences, such as psychology, sociology, etc, as they made philosophical statements based on their social research and findings.

Modern day philosophy majors look at the lives of these past great philosophers and then twist their words into their own little thinkings and then claim to be intelligent, like you're doing there.

Good - Evil? Subjective? Good and Evil are both products of a culture and social mores. The truest good and the truest evil are the products of the most successful culture to exist. What culture is that, one might ask.

If you understand the different behaviors from all cultures that benefit each culture in a specific aspect (such as longevity or infant mortality) then we can begin to build the perfect culture as a mix of those things. The truest good and the truest evil would manifest themselves in this culture.

I'm a fantastic writer, which is why it'd be both High Tier and Low Tier for me, since it's a course that I'd breeze through.

My father was a movie producer, book writer, and photographer who never took a single math course past middle school since he was such a fantastic writer. (He graduated from college in the mid 1960s from Marlboro). Mother went to Michigan state and became a geologist but was never great at math. Both of them contended that since I was able to succeed in high school calculus (let alone high school algebra) that I was "the smartest person in the family" and because of that, they didn't tell me what they would have liked to see me major in, in college. Either they figured I was smart enough to know exactly what I wanted to do because of my grades, or maybe it was just that they didn't want to make me lean towards anything because they had applied the same "We're not going to tell you what to believe" philosophy when it came to everything else that was a part of growing up within the family, such as personal values and religious belief.

Chemical Engineering is fucking fantastic, though, and I salute anyone who is also undertaking the course.

Finance? It's just anything that has to do with money, or the concept of intermediary (actually nowadays rather tertiary) exchange of theoretic elements each constituting some type of value to either certain groups, institutions, or (generally) the entire international monetary systems.

Generally speaking, the global financial system consists of several important banks, investment groups, lending agencies, futures/stock/forex traders, traders of all kinds, and organizations such as the IMF, world bank, etc.

All the patterns and principles behind the actual set of events involved with trading certain stocks, predicting which economics/currencies will do well, finding good ideas / marketing plans, can be modeled with mathematics, simply because mathematics is the natural language of all natural systems.

You think atoms are cool, don't you?
But I bet you wouldn't like going near dog shit. But dog shit's made of atoms?

The problem is you need to acknowledge the difference between the beauty of abstract, generally sustained principles and specific, mindless areas of application.

As much as I love mature people and hanging out couple of times a week, and club or similar non-sense that let's me go crazy and get in touch with the primal side of my being - the rest of the time I am driven by logic (which in a way is driven by the production of dopamine in the brain, which can be considered emotional). I used to be great in arts classes and was the at the top of my english class and in fact all my actuary sciences had taken the back seat.

after graduating High-school I left home for London and started exploring the world and the internet (4chan being one of the best finds as ironic it may be).

Now even though I used to love Humanities and Arts I see myself as benefiting the Civilization a lot more by becoming a Scientist. I can remain extremely creative and intuitive when I study logical sciences , thus making use of my whole brain potential and not only advancing my intellect (which is a great motivator), but providing ways for life to push towards the Exodus and finally moving into a space-age. I'm not religious , but I believe this is the destiny of Mankind and it drives me through all the pain of learning science as a previously humanitarian student. As someone has said once - 'Pain is temporary - Glory is eternal'.

You can't remain creative and intuitive unless you study logical sciences?

What do you mean by "logical" sciences?

I assume your intuition was meaning to gear towards using the word "quantitative" instead. All fields of science follow a general process of logic, in some sense. But logic hardly encapsulates the scope of what it means to do science, and understand the process.

If you want to do science, then do it.

Don't waste anyone's time talking about how creative you'll be while you do it, or how much it'll benefit society.

It's obvious to anyone with half a brain that you're trying to make a cradle for yourself out the all the words you say.

Regardless, having found a passion for science and all the possibilities to express my Creativity through it, I am not looking back.

A person has to mature, especially a guy , who really starts thinking maturely at age 21 or so. Me, I was a silly kid who wanted to do a 'cool' degree and took up Art before spending more time and realizing that the things that really captured my imagination were Science related.

I really suck at revolution about the x-axis problems. Y-axis ones are fairly simple but I ended up getting this one completely wrong because I could not determine the "height" of the object. If there's someone able to describe to me the proper way to obtain this, I would really appreciate it!

Here's the problem,
> Consider the graph of the function f(x) = (2/3)(x-2)^(3/2) over the interval [2, 6]. Find:
> a) The area of the region bounded by f(x), y=0, and x = 6.
> b) The length of the curve.
> c) the volume of the figure formed by rotation about the x-axis.
> d) The complete surface area of the function.
