How does this shit work?

>> No.3823929

OP here, I missed the class this was taught in so I'm trying to teach myself how to do it.

I think, I need to convert it to (f(g)x)), or something, right?

Would I plug f(x) into g(x), or the other way around?

>> No.3823931

You combine the two functions together.

>> No.3823933

I believe that the "+" symbol is another way to represent compound functions. In other words, what is f(g(x))?

>> No.3823934

probably f(x) + g(x)

>> No.3823950

Function f and functiong g in x equals this and that.
I would just add them up.

So if I combine the 2 functions, I would just completely ignore the (x) part of the (f+g)(x) equation then?

This.

f(x) + g(x) = 5x - 8 + x - 6

f(g(x)) = 5 (x - 6) - 8

'Composition of functions' means f(g(x)) (or maybe g(f(x)) but probably the former in this case).

Please change your name to: The Middle School Mathematician

(f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x), that's not "probable", that's a basic maths definition
