This.

I don't give a flying fuck about the intelligence of pigs, they're delicious.

Similarly, I'd eat a human if it were available and didn't carry diseases or prions. I've heard that it tastes like a mid-point between the sweet tenderness of crab and the umami and texture of beef.

I should note that this isn't and "edgy" thing, just curiosity mostly. The information I have about the taste of human flesh is from my nutritional anthropology professor. He spent time studying the tribe in New Guinea from whence Kuru (prion) came. Apparently, he was told how humans taste at some point and decided to let us in on the big secret.

Yup.

They're also the ones that eat nervous tissue like spine or brain and get the Kuru prion from doing so. The practice has since been discouraged, but the studies are interesting.

Nutritional anthropology was a surprisingly fun/informative class even if it had little to do with my biochemistry degree. I always walked out of lecture absolutely starving.

That class also turned me onto the idea of:
Spicy, not sweet, hot chocolate
Smoked/salted fish with breakfast- delicious
Fish sauce- surprisingly delicious
Seared, but otherwise raw, red meat- amazing
Blood as the base for a demi-glaze- it works shockingly well and can be used as a protein and iron-rich substitute for cream or other fatty congealing agents... great with cracked pepper and brandy as a reduction!

While some of the dietary things discussed seemed outright vomit-inducingly disgusting, others seemed like pretty good ideas. I can also now own any moron prattling on about some fad diet.

i've heard of spicy hot chocolate, and have always been interested in trying it. i've never been fond of seafood though, unless the fish was in something like a curry

i've had both, and they are indeed fantastic

Half the fun of being an omnivore at the top of every food chain on the planet is the sheer variety of foods you can try.

The other half of the fun is that our particular species of omnivorous superpredator is also intelligent, so there are a mind-blowing number of combinations and methods for preparing foods.

Damn it feels good to be a human.

The ability to suffer is what ultimately marks out sentient life from any other sort.
Not just the ability to feel physical pain, but real suffering, the sort of suffering that's all the worse because the creature undergoing the experience can appreciate it fully, can think back to when it had not suffered so, look forward to when it might stop (or despair of it ever stopping - despair is a large component of this) and know that if things had been different it might not be suffering now.

Brains required, see? Imagination.

Any brainless thing with a rudimentary nervous system can feel pain. Suffering takes intelligence.

Exactly, we make the distinction between individual ethical preferences all the time. Morality is simply a matter of priorities. There is no hard and fast rules (Don't kill this this, don't kill that) and you'd never maintain consistency even if there were. The fact of the matter is human preference comes before other animals. Morality is a human contraption anyway. Animals only get their say after us. Of course, you priorities the preferences of rational human agents above the irrational so there can be no pointless hedonistic slaughtering of animals just for the sake of it. But there is nothing wrong with killing animals for food, clothing, medicine and other utilities.

Don't we all want to live in a peaceful world?

Guys like you are slowing the progress.
As long as you will feel superior to other animals and won't show them any respect, there can't be peace on earth, because you will feel the same about people that you think are inferior to you.

I'm not saying stop eating meat (I'd prefer if you did), but at least show them some respect.
You are doing the same to other human beings and it is in your own good, to be good other people. If you are being a dick to someone, you can never achieve a peace of mind, because he will be a dick back.

I eat meat, I hunt (spearfish, buying a gun soon) because it's what we've been doing for over 200,000 years. Yes now that we're smart we don't have to, but to deny us those basic rights is inhuman. But I still agree in the respect that some of the more brutal practices displayed in the video should be made illegal. I'm not gonna lie, some of those images were incredibly hard for me to watch. If the people who watch this are already animal lovers, (which most of them are) what difference does watching the documentary make? Did they think that making people baww would help the situation? It'd be different if profits went to animal welfare groups, (NOT animal rights groups, they don't do shit.) which I don't think they do. Donating money to organizations like these might actually have an affect, more so than spending money making a shitty documentary which hipsters simply link to each other saying BAWWW WATCH THISS
