Shadow from the lander is actually going the same direction as the one from the rocks, it just looks horizontal due to the angle and the distance it's at.

the cast shadow of the astronaut looks more horizontal than it really is

Why are the tops of the shadows being joined to the bottom of what's casting them? Shouldn't the line be drawn from the top of the shadow to the top of the object casting it?

I don't think he was referring to the curve of the moon due to it being roughly a sphere, but to hills etc. We're not the little prince's planet where equilateral triangles have all angles equal to 120° (exercise: deduce the diameter of his planet from that property), usual geometry applies on the moon.

By the way I meant 90°. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it's possible with 120°. Also I'm realizing that I probably don't remember the exercise well, cause obviously smaller equilateral triangles have angles closer to 60° as they are on a surface closer to a plane. Forget about that. Finding the diameter of a sphere such that equilateral triangles of side 1 unit draw on that sphere have angles equal to 90° is probably a correct exercise.
