I guess the easiest way would be contact with an completely alien species. If this species differs enough from us to make differences in humans look negligible in comparison, most people will hate the aliens instead of their neighbour. Not a perfect world peace, but, you know, pretty damn close to it. An outside threat against which humanity unites. I don't know if this peace would last, though; once the threat is eliminated, all people would probably go back to hating each other.

Kill every human on the planet. This is only if you count human violence. If you wan't complete peace, you will have to wipe out every single species on the planet.

The only way to attain world peace would be to kill the leaders that would wage war for their own benefit.

Look at all these people saying, "kill so and so". These people disgust me. Not their bloodlust, as I'm sure they would never hurt anyone. It's the fact that they are so pessimistic, so irrational, and so willing to say and believe ANYTHING to distinguish themselves. These people are cretins, obsessed completely with themselves and probably baffled as to why there is no joy in their life.

Anyway, in my opinion war is a function of inequality or ideological differences. If you want to achieve peace, both of these things need to be addressed, and I think in time they will be.

Ideological difference is the easy one, and I think this one will work itself out given time. The internet, and communication technology in general is producing a global generation. As the older generations die off, especially in the middle east, the entire world will progress in their mutual understanding. It may be a long time until everyone understands each other, but I feel the type of deep ignorance that leads to xenophobic terror is being washed away. Even a small amount of exposure to other cultures can reveal the fact that people everywhere are mostly the same, no race or culture is evil.

Inequality is the hard one, and I believe the key to this one is an advancement in energy technology. A vast surplus of energy would solve logistical problems in distributing resources. I'm not suggesting that we distribute the wealth, but I do believe there are enough resources on the planet to provide basic means of life to every single person.

Really, the most important part is for every person to just keep trying to advance and grow. Our technological society is really young, the world is honestly just now emerging from barbarity. I hope in 100 years they feel the exact same way, that would mean that we are advancing!

This may even produce more radicalisation of thought as the extremist opinions can spread faster through the internet.

Don't be fooled by the loud extremists. If you go to a muslim country, the kids there are really into western things. Cell phones, candy bars, pop music, etc... They havent abandoned their culture or anything, but they are not hateful or fanatical.

I guess it's true that the internet can spread extremism. Heres my thought however: extremist thought survives best in isolation. When everyone around you believes one thing, it is difficult to believe something else. Without exposure to alternative beliefs, it is incredibly difficult to deviate in your belief. The internet is amazing in that it will blast you with alternate opinions. They are everywhere. This is toxic to extremism.

if you're from Europe or the US what you can do is incredibly simple.

In fact, the US and Europe's miltiary involvement and sending military aid is entirely voluntary, they're not threatened by other nations.

All you have to do is quit killing people, quite providing military aid.
Will it stop all conflicts abroad? No, and it may in fact start some anew. But the point is war and revolution won't drag on forever without end if we're not always invested in making sure the balance of power is totally undisturbed.

Nuke them back to the stone age, I read somewhere that the US has about 3000 active nukes.

Well you have to accept that violence is just part of human nature. Anger and irrationality are ingrained into our DNA. Even if we did one day bring wars to an end, there would still be fights on a smaller scale. Therefore, everyone must die for peace.

I disagree. I think being questioned relentlessly forces a person to question their beliefs in a way. I'm not trying to defend internet trolls as intellectual titans, but when evidence against your belief is mustered, or the belief is simply questioned, it plants a seed of doubt. If the belief is logical and true, then its origins will be traced and the belief will be confirmed. If however the belief is baseless, then the seed will only grow.

A lot of the extremism I see now is not based on isolated ignorance, but based on a futile battle against doubt and scrutiny. Doubt will eventually win.

Taken to an extreme, blasting all opinions is not conducive to rational thought. But accepting all opinions is far, far less conducive to rational thought. And even worse is being around people who all accept an irrational thought.

We need something to remind us that we all are members of the same species. We tend to forget about that.

It also gives people access to a lot of stupid ideas that they wouldn't otherwise have had access to (Scientology has gained far more popularity since the internet was invented). Wars are not trivial and like I said, I doubt anyone really wants to fight in a war. Sometimes it seems necessary though.
