I tend to make really stupid math mistakes despite understanding far beyond the mistakes I make. Typically just forgetting a negative sign or just completely forgetting about one variable so when I move to the next line it disappears. This is the root of my problems in mathematics. I understand material readily and easily, but simply make beginner mistakes. It is not a problem of comprehension but rather of bad habits and just not noticing the mistake. How can I fix this?

I do the same thing.

After you write a line in mathematics, carefully look over it.

Mathematics is slow. The first thing I do when I come up with a result is to try to replicate it, if it matters.

Otherwise, let computers do the work for you.

from my experience, i can tell you theres no fix. youre fucked just like me.

but at higher tier maths, the arithmetic and accuracy becomes less important, and you get most of the credit for method rather than just final answer. take my example, fucked up most of simple arithmetics on my exams, still got straight A's. like a fucking boss.

others say "go slowly" and "read over again", but never seems to work for me.
