What are your thoughts on Noetic Science? I'm looking for opinions from gentlemen who have intelligence, reason and tolerance.

Noetic Science is bullshit, you realy dont need to say anything else about it.

Because you know we're going to say it's bullshit pseudoscience?

No I said it because I wanted real men and women of science commenting here. Because I didn't want some liberal arts major skilled in rhetoric such as yourself posting here.

Please, do yourself a favor and go talk about this in a philosophy forum. We already have enough from religion threads.

That's a really nice Masonic tracing board of the Fellowcraft. Sadly I can see no one understands what the Fellowcraft stands for.

Consciousness is a key issue of study in Noetics. The greeks called it Nous. Did you know Noetics is the same science used in Platos mystery school?

>> No.3525724

>>3525709
Err, Rizon #sci?

>> No.3525728

Noetics suffers from the problem of trying to be a science. It's a problem because the subject it's trying to address is beyond scientific apprehension, requiring cognitive modes that are more complex, less rigid, more inclusive of all the brain's capabilities. In short, noetics is a tragically crippled version of what it should be.

The Pythagorean Lambdoma is a tuning system originally developed by the greek mathematician Pythagoras over 2500 years ago. Its harmonic resonances are alleged to provide feelings of wholeness and well-being, and are used by some as musical therapy [20]. Its layout consists of a fundamental frequency which is placed in the upper left hand corner of the grid, for example 440 Hz (middle A). The next square to the right will be 2 times the original frequency, the square after that 3 times, and so on. In this size board the upper right square's frequency is 6 times that of the upper left (2640 Hz). In a likewise fashion, the square below the fundamental is one half its frequency, the one below that one third, and so on down to one sixth. Each square’s frequency ratios are defined by its place in the matrix - the row number divided by the column number represents its relation to the fundamental frequency. This tuning scheme produces a range of tonalities that remain consonant with each other in almost any combination, making it an ideal layout for a multiplayer interactive instrument.

The more I hang out on Science the less I see of actual people who are involved with science. I see a ton of googling wannabes though. Maybe like 5% of the posters of Science are actually smart. :S shits kinda sad. I weep for humanity truly.

We don't need this magic to explain consciousness. Pic related.

Functionalism doesn't explain consciousness -- it simply ignores it.

>> No.3526074

>>3526045
functionalism says that consciousness is the result of the system emulated by the brain, without making any claims as to how.

any contradictory view says that it is not the system that is important, i.e. it is what the system is 'made of' that it is important. i.e. fats and proteins and water and ions are necessary for consciousness. i.e. fucking morons.
