Hello again /sci/

It's been about a year since the Lab Raid saga now, and since the Green-Oval archives are about to shut down, I thought I'd best fulfil a promise to an anon, and update you on how things ended up. I'll link to the original threads, for those wanting context/refreshing/nostalgia.

And finally, what has actually happened? Well, I've taken up chemistry as a main hobby, and in particular areas that work with my pyrotechnic inclinations - nothing too dramatic due to the paranoia in this terrorist-paranoid society we live in now, but enough for some very flashy party tricks. I have a chemistry set in my shed that's frankly glorious, and the surplus kit has been retailed via various routes, for considerable profit in some cases. I've also donated some of the more esoteric bits to a local uni chemistry lab, in return for misc bits of tubing, chems and such that you can't seem to buy online except in huge bulk.

For those wondering where I've been - I do still lurk and occasionally post on /sci/, but usually not under my tripcode, as it tended to derail threads I posted in. I will say that it is mostly religious trolling and magnets here lately though, neither of which are discussions of particular interest to me. I should also note that my tripcode has changed - despite being the same hash - as something has changed server-side since the original saga.

This thread is dedicated to /sci/ denizens - especially the ones who joined the Raid saga, and ultimately, this particular anon: "Hornet, not only are you a Godlike level 50 Luck Specialist, but you've also made a critical hit against my heart. You had best follow all this up with more info and the progression of your own labratory, even if it is just a shed."

I was there when you started this adventure, OP.
Pretty neat stuff.
Always nice to see people following up.

Goddamn, OP, I was there when you started... there was some large machine you found that was worth a lot, no? What happened to that?

Also you're a badass and probably have sex with a lot of attractive women all the time.

did they finish demolishing the building?

because I was recently told many old industrial labs had a layer of copper under the flooring.

>> No.3523490

>>3523399, >>3523432

Hope you both enjoyed the ride as much as I did. :)

The huge machine was a spectrometer, it's mentioned in thread 3 (I believe), and it disappeared between my exploration of the factory, and my posting on here about it. Probably pikey'd for scrap. :( And it's just the one girl these days (and she's a chemistry geek too).

Colonel: I know it's not all magnets, but it doesn't half feel it some nights.

>> No.3523503

>>3523471

The copper was actually removed beforehand, it often is, even in places that are temporarily closed. A lot of the walls and flooring had been ripped up in the plant, and someone had taken a JCB to the parts near the on-site substation.

Demolition was completed ages ago, and it's on the way to being a housing estate.

No doubt, was great seeing progress. You and the one guy that puts hamsters in odd environments are what sci should be all about.

OP, you should host all of the original images for us somewhere, I've been looking through the old threads on green oval and I'm pretty curious

by the way, if you're interested in doing high-brow home chemistry, check out this message board http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/

Oddly enough I do actually keep pet rats... they're not lab rats though.

>>3523545

I do have the originals on my PC, but that's not in my current location. http://chanarchive.org/4chan/sci/7591/lab-raid-part-2 has links to full-size pictures, and the two imagebam links in the first post have a lot more (including some that weren't posted)

bumping for awesomeness.

How did you find out about the factory in the first place?

>> No.3526817 [DELETED]

>>3525975

I noticed the demolition signs up outside the complex, thought it looked interesting, and just went for an explore. Wasn't expecting to find laboratories, but oddly enough they were the places that the least damaged. Copper/wiring thieves don't seem to care much about lab/glassware, other than smashing some of it for shits & giggles. I do have some more photographs of the factory itself, if anyone wants to see them - after the initial explore I went around the parts I missed the first time, it's mostly industrial decay, but still very interesting.

OP YOU STILL HAVEN'T ANSWER MY QUESTION FROM A YEAR AGO.

Are you going to start a meth lab?

Oh so you didn't die from getting poisoned by something you picked up in the factory.

Somewhere in the east of England.

>>3526923

Shall do then. It'll take a while to sort and upload, I had this batch archived.

>> No.3527208

I've started them uploading - I really can't be arsed with the captcha on here, so it'll be an external gallery with links to images that require further commentary.

I've also included a photo of an overhead photo (yo dawg) of the site which I found in an office, and highlighted the lab locations. It's hard to appreciate the scale from the photos alone, it really is gigantic. You could fit a few supermarkets into the main factory floor, and still have room for a carpark.

The picture attached, was the centre of the factory floor - this is without artificial lighting, and the rooftop windows had been covered by moss. You can just about see the 10-foot deep pit in the middle of the room, where machinery used to stand, there's a light-enhanced photo in the set as well. This is the reason I avoided the centre areas, until I had several powerful torches to hand.

My favourite photos in the set are the ones where nature's taken over again, eg one of the offices has a small lawn in the centre, the rooftop guttering has moss gardens, and in some cases small trees growing. There's even a set of pigeon holes (for paperwork) which have been taken over by actual pigeons, for nesting in.

Really? I spend a lot of my time in Norwich. Is this abandoned place anywhere near there?

>> No.3527611

>>3527400

I won't say exactly where it was - but it's not intact any more, it's levelled, and half-built houses occupy the site. There's nothing left to see. :(

>> No.3527752

Thanks for sharing OP, i wish i could find somewhere like this someday.
