Hello /Sci/ let's talk solar.

So this company called Sunrgi Created a solar cell that can created power really efficiently. They came out with it a while ago. Said they would be ready in 10-15 months, now they dropped off the face of the earth. Their website hasn't been updated since 2009. wtf

Also can Extreme Concentrated sunlight be used for other applications other than focusing it onto a photovoltaic cell. Like heating a boiler to run steam through a turbine.

They were probably bought out.

inb4 conspiracy bullshit, it's just how things are

MFW a thread about actual science gets less interest than a thread about religion and evolution

Alternatively they were a scam just looking for investors.

Possibilities:
-Their tech didn't work as well as they though it would so they had to scrap it.
-Their tech didn't work as well as they though it would so they have to work on it some more and it will be ready later.
-The tech never worked and it was just a scam.
-They were bought out by another company.
-They ran out of money and the project stalled.

There are solar thermal power generation plants, but they have a large footprint and low output compared to say, nuclear.

I for one am excited about the proposed plants which will use molten salts as the thermal storage fluid.

That's ok. I have lived in other places in Colorado too. Leadville is hardly representative of the whole state either.

If any of you high schoolers were out in the real world you would know how easy it is for a startup to make all these awesome world changing claims about their product that dont really exist. The technology might of had potential but they probably ran out of money before they could make anything sellable. It happens all the time.

If Colorado needs an enema Leadville's where we'll stick the hose.

rock on Boulderman.
