You're right. I apologize for my rude behavior. Now that i've considered the board in a bit more detail, I think it's quite interesting. The optical illusion created by the pattern of omfg what a dickless faggot you are black and white dots will force players play quickly so they can look away from it. It will be like speed chess but without clocks to force players to move. I think you have done a superb job on this.

Put opposite color red/green dots in each center.

remove the grey and replace it with the border color

well squares are 4 sided and some pieces can move in up to 8 directions so i think an 8 sided shape allows the piece to "escape" the cell via 8 different gateways. On squares a piece must escape through the points of the cell which does not make sense.

I think you have the potential to shake the very core foundation that we know as chess.

I love the octagonal idea! Maybe I'm just getting tired of the same-old-same-old, probably a cognitive bias, but I believe there's a neuro-cognitive advantage to this design most particularly better emphasizing bishop and queen diagonal movements; although, perhaps this challenges some of the hidden wisdom of the game's intentionally subtle canonical design.

Here, I've just made smaller aesthetic variations, I may re-edit this by adding in more border coloring. The idea(s) at work here has me inspired to build on top of it with more productive things: I might write me an online chess program! Regardless, now I'm in the mood for some templating.

Chess pieces don't "run" across the board, they leap.

Except the Rook, he charges (Rooks were initially Chariots). Bishops, Queens, even Pawns just take a flying leap.

Sliding a piece without it leaving the board is considered uncouth. Common courtesy has you pick it up, then plant it where it is meant to go..

It was a sunday, as i recall, when i returned home to see my mother being penetrated by my school mascot, Sergeant Squirrel.
