100% of the actual work is just looking at the prescription and putting the damn box in a basket. Pharmacists are a scam.

That can't take anymore than a few minutes.

Whenever I forget to tell a pharmacist the medication I'm asking for is a prescription covered by Canadian pharmacare they walk to the back, grab my shit, then walk right back to me. The rest of the time it takes five to fifteen minutes. This makes me think that handling the insurance information takes a while, but I never see pharmacists working at a computer, they just stand around. Sometimes they say "it will take longer because we're busy", then just stand around waiting for another customer to show up as I wait. WTF?

This.

>Hand prescription in
>Pharmacist takes it back and places it behind the counter
>He takes to more customers
>Eventually walks back, grabs my prescription and hands it to me

What the fuck is going on back their? Are robots checking the details out?

Pharmacists are INEPT.

I used to work at my local hospital, which like most has a pharmacy.

got to be pretty good friends with a couple of the pharmacists, talked with em on smoke breaks and sat with em at lunch.

they're disrespected daily by doctors, nurses and patients alike.

they make us wait because they can.

Most of the time is spent with documentation in my case. When I watch, they are not lazing around even though it takes a lot longer nowadays than it did 20 years ago. They have to mark certain records and someone else checks the prescription as well as to make sure the quantity matches. It probably to make sure rogue pharmacy technicians or pharmacists don't do strange things in tandem with a rogue doctor issuing prescriptions. The more people in the chain, the harder it is to get away with (and more expensive).

Where do you live, and how long?
The time it takes to get prescriptions has varied for me from 3-4 minutes to 14 days depending on the country.

>> No.3436293

I've always thought that pharmacists called up your doctor and took so long because they couldn't read the prescription handwriting.

like 30 minutes to 3 hours
