Anecdotal empirical evidence disagrees in several cases though. Examples such as poorly constructed troll threads where the first 7 posts are sages telling the OP he's an idiot. I wouldn't class this as true butthurt (though I'd need an objective definition of butthurt to say that categorically). Aether threads are also quite a nice example, nobody gets upset in those, they just laugh.

Of course these findings are pretty much entirely based off my own thoughts and hunches about other peoples.
