I had to take a really basic geology course this semester. It was really boring, but it was definitely science.

biogeochemist reporting on. im currently contrasting the ages of several layers of sediment taken from a local lake (dated to have been deposited in the last 200 years) and contrasting it with the forms of organic phosphates found in the soil to try determine a more accurate phosphate cycle for the area

Geology and psychology are both low in my opinion.
Psychology is complete shit-tier, geology - being related closely with chemistry and geography (hurr durr) - is slightly better than psychology.

It ranks higher than psychology and sociology.

With geography being an extremely simple application for physics-chemistry, geology is only slightly lower-ranked than biology based on the previous statements.

my mom is a volcanologist, earns a shit salary and works a ridiculous ammount of time, not to mention she´s far from home most of the time, but she loves what she does and the sheer ammount of chemistry, geography, fluid mechanics and physics (though this last one on a relatively basic level) makes it a hard science, kind of an interdisciplinary field in the science world.

I though Geology was fairly interesting, but the professors here are dicks who think too highly about their program.
Went into Geotechnical (Civil) Engineering now. Seems pretty nice, is actually challenging, and everyone else is also a shitty slacker.

Every geologist I know is pretty much the coolest person ever.

Archaeologists fall into the same category, in my opinion.

I've never seen people so passionate about rocks/digging/drinking beer, nor so good at living life.

Geology gets a big thumbs up from me, just not in my line of interest.

Definitely a science, not even a science with some politicized pseudo-scientific version of itself like sociology, it is pretty much purely pragmatic, the mining industry is solely interested in extracting minerals for the least expense.
